Rapper MoneySign Suede Stabbed to Death in Prison Shower

Officials confirm the up-and-coming Los Angeles rapper is found dead at age 22 in the shower area of a California prison with ‘with injuries consistent with a homicide.’

AceShowbizMoneySign Suede‘s life was cut short in prison. The young and popular Los Angeles rapper died at only 22 years old after he was stabbed on Tuesday night, April 25 in a shower at a California prison, according to his attorney.

Officials with the Monterey County coroner’s office and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation confirmed Suede’s death at the Correctional Training Facility in Soledad, but did not share details on how he died. In a statement, CDCR officials said the rapper was found unresponsive just before 10 P.M. after correctional officers found that he was not in his cell during a regular count.

Prison officials tell TMZ that Suede was found in another area of the prison “with injuries consistent with a homicide.” Prison personnel attempted to administer emergency aid, but were unsuccessful as he was pronounced dead around 10:20 P.M.

“They said it was a stabbing to the neck,” Suede’s attorney Nicholas Rosenberg tells the Los Angeles Times. “They said they’re investigating.” The attorney adds, “People are very shocked. He was a very popular guy, very mild-mannered. People loved him.”

CDCR officials confirmed an investigation is underway by the prison’s Investigative Services Unit and the Monterey County district attorney’s office. They also stated that movement in the prison has been limited in order to facilitate the investigation.

Suede was sentenced to 32 months in prison in December 2022 for a pair of gun charges in Riverside County. Prior to his death, Suede had been attacked in prison, according to his attorney.

Following his passing, his friends and colleagues have paid tribute on social media. Rapper Fenix Flexin posted their photo together and wrote, “I f**king love u bro, life’s not fair I’m beyond broken get yo rest….” Fellow hip-hop star Baby Stone Gorillas posted on his Instagram Story, “Rest up bro smh.” Los Angeles rapper Peysoh added, “LONGLIVESUEDE.”

Suede was signed to Atlantic Records in 2021. His latest album “Parkside Baby” was released in September 2022.
