Robbie Williams dad rushed to hospital after breaking his spine

Robbie Williams’ dad was rushed to hospital this week after “breaking his spine” in a fall.

Comedian and entertainer Pete Conway, 72, posted a photo of himself being taken away in an ambulance on Twitter on Wednesday.

Robbie’s father, who suffers with Parkinson’s disease, said he’d had “better days”, following his injury, which occurred in the singer’s home town of Stoke.

Pete tweeted: “Yesterday I had a fall and broke a bone in my spine..(yes, it hurts)… and I spent all day today in hospital.

"I’ve had better days. #Parkinsons is a nuisance”.

Pete’s bad turn will no doubt cause worry for Robbie, who is currently on tour in Europe.

Following his update on Twitter, Pete received several messages of support and well wishes from friends on the social media platform.

In response to one comment, he shared that he was “mending slowly” and that the doctors informed him it would take “three months” to recover.

Robbie’s father appeared to be in better spirits as he later tweeted a second message, thanking the NHS staff.

Pete wrote: “Would like to say a huge Thank You for the Get Well Soon wishes and also the NHS staff at Royal Stoke hospital (and my ambulance drivers…Mick & Chris) very efficient and we are lucky to have them”.

Robbie revealed that his dad had Parkinson’s in 2020, and opened up at the time about his “fear” of being away from him whilst stuck in Los Angeles due to lockdown, following his illness.

The Angels singer said: “We’ve got a lot of family issues right now. My dad has got Parkinson’s, my mother-in-law who I love dearly has got a very big illness. We can’t get to them. My dad is thousands of miles away.

“I noticed at the start of the lockdown that I was going into fear. But the difference between me now and the person I used to be…I saw it, thought 'That’s interesting – tomorrow will be different'. And it was."

Robbie spoke further on his anxiety over his parents’ health that year, as he discussed his mum Janet isolating alone in the pandemic.

He told The Sun: “We are incredibly fortunate to be where we are but right now I am also talking for my dad, who is in the bungalow in Stoke-on-Trent and for my mum, who is in a house by herself.

“They’re of that age that is very vulnerable to what is going on, so I am speaking to them on the phone daily.”
