Royal Family decline to comment on contents of bombshell Harry and Meghan documentary

The Royal Family have declined to comment on the bombshell Prince Harry and Meghan Markle documentary.

At 8am today (December 8) Netflix released the first volume of the self-titled six-part series, Harry & Meghan.

It opens with the caption “This is a first-hand account of Harry and Meghan’s story”, specifies that all the interviews were completed by August 2022 – before the death of Queen Elizabeth II – and then has a disclaimer that the royal family declined to be involved.

The episode then moves into a montage of the couple where Meghan can be heard saying: “I just really want to get to the other side of all of this."

Harry can then be heard saying: “I think anyone else in my situation would have done exactly the same thing."

The documentary comes after a tumultuous time for both Harry and Meghan, but also the royal family as a whole.

More than two years ago Meghan and Harry announced they would be stepping down as senior working members of the family and soon relocated to the US, leaving Royal life and the UK behind for good.

Royal author Richard Fitzwilliams hasbranded the new documentary a “destructive act of revenge” .

He toldMailOnline: "This is a full frontal, extremely destructive attack on the Royal Family – the institution as well as individual households and members of those households. This series I suspect will greatly weaken the royals in the eyes of the world, especially among young people.”

Speaking about Harry and brother William's tense relationship, Richard admitted that he believes the series will "widen the rift" between the pair.

He also added: "There is no doubt that this Netflix series is an amazing act of revenge designed to weaken the very institution that William will inherit as future King."

TheRoyal Family have been bracing themselvesfor the bombshells revealed in the documentary with reports claiming thePalace “will move swiftly” if Harry & Meghan makes direct attack on Kate .

Royal expert Michael Cole said: “What will trigger that is if there are direct attacks on his wife Catherine, the Princess of Wales, I think that might trigger it."

The show is being released in two parts with the second instalment being released on 15 December.
