Joseph, who rose to fame playing fan favourite Eddie Munson in Stranger Things, was allegedly ‘yelled at’ by staff after the event was reportedly oversold, creating a rush.
On Sunday, one fan addressed the alleged incident during a question and answer session with Joseph at London Film and Comic Con.
In a video, Joseph broke down in tears as a fan kindly thanked him for taking the time to greet fans and said he had ‘made their summer’ by appearing at the convention.
The fan said: ‘Hi, mine’s not really a question, it’s more an extension of gratitude really.

‘I’m sure a lot of us have heard what happened yesterday, whether it’s true or not, about how you were treated.
‘I won’t really comment on it, I just wanted to say, thank you from all of us – we’re really grateful you’re sharing the time.
‘Thank you for signing our things, spending time with us and making our summer.’
Joseph could be seen getting emotional on stage and wiping tears from his eyes as she expressed her gratitude for him giving his time to fans.
She went on explain how Stranger Things viewers have all ‘connected’ with his character Eddie because of his role as the ‘outsider’ in the sci-fi show.

She continued: ‘I think we’ve all connected with Eddie for one reason or another whether we like his music taste or that he is the outsider like you mentioned.
‘I think all of us are part of Eddie, we’ve all travelled far because we all really connect with you as well and you really made our weekend.’
The fan also said she was particularly grateful to Joseph for being ‘so nice’ to her and her guide dog when she had spoken to him at the meet and greet on Saturday.
She added: ‘You’ve really made mine as well, you were just so nice to me and my guide dog yesterday and however you were treated yesterday, you know, we are so grateful. Thank you!’
The crowd erupted into rounds of applause after the fan’s comments while Joseph said, ‘ah why did you do that’, before wiping tears from his eyes.

He added: ‘That’s very kind of you. Thank you for your kind words.’
Speaking of the alleged incident on Saturday, an eyewitness claimed staff were treating the actor ‘like a child’ and reportedly ‘rushed’ his meet and greet.
The eyewitness said: ‘The day before, staff weren’t letting him interact with fans, sign autographs or do anything – they were treating him like a child.
‘So when the girl next to me stood up and thanked him he got overwhelmed.
‘In that moment I think he saw the amount of love people had for him and his character.’
‘I love you. man’: Elsewhere, Stranger Things writers recently confirmed Joseph improvised his character Eddie Munson’s heart wrenching final line in the show’s season four finale
The meet and greet was reportedly oversold and resulted in more than 400 fans lining up eager to meet Joseph, according to Buzzfeed.
It has been claimed that the actor was told not to interact with fans and was allegedly ‘yelled at’ by staff for taking too long with people during the session.
MailOnline has contacted Showmasters Comic Con for comment.
Fans were left heartbroken when Joseph’s character Eddie was killed off in the Stranger Things finale after becoming a fan favourite during season four.
And the Duffer Brothers – the writers and creators of the show – recently revealed that Joseph’s heartbreaking final line was unscripted.
The actor emotionally told Gaten Matarazzo’s character Dustin Henderson ‘I love you, man’ – in an off-the-cuff moment.
Season four saw the introduction of Eddie, who is the leader of the Hellfire Club at Hawkins High School.
But in a tragic twist of fate, the character’s stint was short-lived – as he heroically sacrificed himself to save the rest of the group.

The gang battled off deathly bats as they attempted to kill Vecna in the Upside Down, with Eddie and Dustin paired together to act as bait during the plan.
But succumbing to the bats, Eddie loses his life to save his friends, with an emotional scene showing him die in Dustin’s arms.
And it seems one of the hardest hitting lines was improvised by actor Joseph, as he tells an emotional Dustin: ‘I think it’s my year, Henderson. I think it’s finally my year. I love you man’ with the teary youngster replying: ‘I love you too’.
Taking to Twitter on Saturday, Stranger Things confirmed via their official writers account that the ‘I love you, man’ line was improvised.

And that wasn’t his only off-the-script moment which made it into the final cut, as Joseph also improvised a line during a scene which showed him hot-wiring a caravan alongside Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) and Robyn Buckley (Maya Hawke).
As Robyn was unconvinced about Eddie driving the van, she expressed her concern to the boys – with Eddie assuring that Steve would be the one driving.
Turning to Steve, he jested: ‘Harrington’s got it… Don’t ya big boy?’.
Suspecting there was a hint of improvisation in there, one intrigued fan tweeted the Stranger Things Writers account, asking: ‘Did he improvise the ‘don’t you, big boy?’ at Steve in the camper van too? just asking for a friend.’
Confirming that the last part of the line was from Joseph himself, the account simply replied: ‘yes.’
