Strictly Come Dancing’s Ellie Simmonds, 27, who is in a happy relationship with her boyfriend, insurance worker Matt, has spilled on her “big crush” on dance partner Nikita Kuzmin, 24. The pair have been competing together in the latest series of the BBC show and have formed a very tight bond.

The paralympic swimmer revealed in a behind-the-scenes training update that she fancied her co-star.

Both of them could be seen heaping praise on one another while rehearsing to perform the Salsa to Shanice’s I Love Your Smile.

In one moment, Ellie gushed over Nikita’s “really, really nice” teeth.

She then admitted she has a “big crush on him”.

“I’ve got a big crush on him. His teeth are really, really nice, which they are,” Ellie could be heard telling the cameras.

It follows from news that Nikita had split from his ex-girlfriend Nicole Wirt, 23, earlier this month.

The Ukrainian professional dancer and his partner are said to have made the “mutual decision” to part ways.

It came just as Nikita embarked on the new series of Strictly with Ellie.

According to a source, Nikita wants to “focus” on work right now.

Nicole is said to also be throwing herself into her career in Germany as she is currently “getting busier”.

The source said: “Nikita wanted to totally focus on this series of Strictly and decided a while back he wanted to end his relationship with Nicole.

“They had been together for five years and it ended up being a mutual decision.

“Nicole is mainly based in Germany and she is getting busier with work.”

The insider added to The Sun: “Nikita is totally caught up in Strictly so they decided it was for the best for them to break up.

“Nicole used to stay in London to visit Nikita but it was becoming more difficult with their schedules.”

Nikita’s BBC representatives told Express.co.uk at the time: “We’re not commenting and neither is Nikita.”

It comes after Nikita recently gave fans an insight into his training process with Ellie after impressing the judges with their first performance.

In early October, This Morning hosts Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield welcomed Strictly stars Ellie and Nikita onto the show.

Although the Paralympian, who was born with achondroplasia, the most common cause of dwarfism, has appeared very confident on the dance floor, she has struggled behind-the-scenes in recent weeks.

This Morning host Phillip quizzed Nikita on what adaptations he’s had to make this year for Ellie.

He replied: “Realistically, it’s quite a lot but at the same time we still have the same technique, we still have the same basic rules.”

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturday’s on BBC at 6:30pm.
