Succession’s Matthew Macfadyen and wife Keeley Hawes lead stars at Chelsea Flower Show in rare public outing… as his on-screen marriage continues to crumble

Succession star Matthew Macfadyen and his actress wife Keeley Hawes put on a cosy display at The Chelsea Flower Show on Monday alongside a host of stars.
The actor, 48, who plays Tom Wambsgans in the hit black dramedy, was smartly clad for the outing alongside his wife of 19 years Keeley, 47.
He sported a tan coloured corduroy blazer with complementary chinos while rocking a wholly un-Tom like smatter of designer stubble for the annual event.
The Spooks star meanwhile was appropriately dressed for the occasion in a pretty floral dress as she joined a host of stars including Catherine, Princess of Wales, Billie Piper, Gemma Collins, Dominic West, his wife Catherine FitzGerald and more.
In the latest episode of Succession, which aired in the US on Sunday evening ahead of its UK airing on Monday night, Tom and his on-screen wife Shiv Roy, played by Sarah Snook, continued in their bitter war of words.

In the penultimate episode of Succession, Season Four Episode Nine saw the stars of the show convene for Tom’s late father-in-law Logan Roy’s funeral.
As fans saw in previous weeks, Shiv has finally come clean to Tom about the fact she was expecting their child, in the wake of one of the most shocking fights.
Away from the screens and at the flower show, other stars in attendance included Billie, 40, who looked sensational in a black blazer and loose trousers to coordinate with her extra dark tresses while the Tribes frontman went for rock star cool.
Far from the floral tea dresses and elegant midis of fellow guests, Billie was every inch the rock WAG in her simple yet stunning ensemble.
Gemma meanwhile opted to go green in a silky co-ord set. The TOWIE star, 42, commanded attention in the vibrant ensemble, which she teamed with gold grandad sandals.
Nick and his girlfriend Katie meanwhile enjoyed a date at the Chelsea Flower Show in London on Monday. Arriving for the opening day of the annual gala, the TV star, 60, put on a cosy display with his stunning girlfriend, 32.
Katie, who runs a sex toy business, looked gorgeous in a plunging summer dress in a chic yellow check print, while Nick was dapper in a striped jacket and green trousers.
Matthew and Keeley first met in 2002 on the set of the BBC spy drama Spooks. At the time she was newly married to DJ Spencer McCallum, with whom she shares 23-year-old son Myles.

The couple’s work friendship later evolved into romance, and she divorced Callum in 2004, before marrying Matthew later that year. They later welcomed two children: daughter Maggie, 18, and son Ralph, 16.
On how Matthew first announced his love for his wife, she revealed: ‘Matthew just came straight out with it and said ‘I love you’ in the rain one day. I thought, ‘Oh dear, here we go.’
While their off-screen appearances are scant, the duo were recently co-stars once again when they starred in Stonehouse, which aired in January 2023.

On working with her husband, Keeley told The Guardian earlier this tear: ‘Ultimately, he’s an actor that I would have loved to work with anyway. So yes, it was a joy.
Back in 2010, Keeley sweetly said of their marriage: ‘ I love being married to Matthew, and I know Matthew loves being married too…
‘It ties everything up and it’s a statement to each other and to the world. Marriage and being a mother are absolutely crucial to my happiness and my life.’
