December always marks one of the most prestige events in the world of sport – the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards.
This year’s eagerly awaited ceremony, held on Wednesday night at MediaCityUK, Salford, saw Lioness Beth Mead grace the red carpet, who goes into the ceremony as the favourite to take the top prize.
She was joined by snowboarder Aimee Fuller, diver Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix, former swimmer Rebecca Adlington and retired track and field athlete Jessica Ennis-Hill in leading the sporting stars .
