‘Tina Turner was my Beyoncé and proved why you should never give up on your dreams’

Loose Women panellist and OK! columnist Judi Love has discussed Tina Turner's legacy following the singer's death as she shares what Tina meant to here.

Tina Turner, who was born Anna Mae Bullock, passed away yesterday (May 24) at her home in Küsnacht near Zurich, Switzerland. She was 83, and had been suffering a long illness, her representative said on Wednesday.

Reflecting on the singer's life and legacy, Judi, 42, exclusively told OK!: "I was heartbroken to hear about the passing of one of the greatest, most talented artists that has ever lived, Tina Turner. Tina is so special because she hit every demographic.

She continued: "I don’t know a single person that wasn’t a huge fan of hers, everyone loved her. For me, growing up in the 80s, she was my Beyoncé!

"She was the glitz and the glam of the music scene that I grew up with, even if she did only receive her true recognition at a later age."

Judi continued: "She was a representation of what you can become if you never give up on your dreams.

"We throw around the word ‘legend’ a lot nowadays, but I don’t think that description fits anyone better than Miss Tina Turner. She was a remarkably talented woman – the music industry has sadly lost an icon."

Other celebrities who have paid tribute to the late singer, include Angela Bassett, who received an Oscar nomination for her portrayal of Tina in the 1993 film What's Love Got To Do With It.

After learning of Tina's death on Wednesday night, the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever star wrote a 200-word social media post in honour of the American-Swiss singer, recounting Tina's powerful final words to the actress and saying she would hold them "close to her heart" for the rest of her life.

"How do we say farewell to a woman who owned her pain and trauma and used it as a means to help change the world?," she wrote.

She went on to reveal last words the Proud Mary singer ever said to her, sharing: "Her final words to me – for me – were 'You never mimicked me. Instead, you reached deep into your soul, found your inner Tina, and showed her to the world.' I shall hold these words close to my heart for the rest of my days.

"I shall hold these words close to my heart for the rest of my days. I am honored to have known Tina Turner. I am humbled to have helped show her to the world."

Beyoncé also paid tribute to Tina, as she shared a snap of herself and the late singer, which she captioned: "My beloved Queen. I love you endlessly.

"I'm so grateful for your inspiration, and all the ways you have paved the way," she continued. "You are strength and resilience. You are the epitome of power and passion.

"We are all so fortunate to have witnessed your kindness and beautiful spirit that will forever remain. Thank you for all you have done."
