Tom Parker's widow Kelsey lights a candle in his memory

‘Sending strength to those who are fighting’: Tom Parker’s widow Kelsey lights a candle in his memory on World Cancer Day – after his death from a brain tumour

Tom Parker’s widow Kelsey paid a sweet tribute to him on Saturday after his death from a brain tumour.

Taking to Instagram with their children Aurelia, three, and Bodhi, two, Kelsey posted a clip of herself lighting a candle with them in their father’s memory, who passed away in March last year after being diagnosed with stage four glioblastoma in 2020.

Hugging them close as the song ‘Sol Rising’ played, she revealed that they were marking World Cancer Day and remembering The Wanted singer, her granddad and everyone else affected by the illness.

She then took a close-up shot of the candle, which stood next to a statue of an angel and stone which said ‘Hope’ on it.

Kelsey captioned her post: ‘Today on #worldcancerday we’re lighting a candle for everyone affected by cancer.

She added: ‘For Tom. For Grandad. Remembering those we’ve lost, sending strength to those who are fighting. Join us to bring light and hope.’

It comes after Kelsey reminisced about her late husband last month and revealed that he would eat the same meal for lunch every single day.

Kelsey took to her Instagram Stories to share that she was refurbishing the house she shared with the star.

Reflecting on her memories of Tom with her older brother Sam, she revealed that he would eat beans on toast for lunch every day as she admitted she ‘misses’ him.

‘[Tom] used to always have the exact same lunch every day. Tom would have jacket, cheese and beans, or beans on toast with cheese,’ she explained.

‘He’d actually be so offended if you were going to eat anything else at lunchtime that wasn’t lunch appropriate.

‘He’d be so set that you had to have breakfast, lunch and dinner and there was like set food that you could eat at these times. It’s just reminiscing and talking about him, you just miss him so much.’

Kelsey also shared that her brother is helping her to refurbish her house, something she said she and Tom always planned to do but couldn’t when he became ill.

The widow admitted it has been ‘difficult’ to make big decisions without her late husband, but said she still has his texts with his opinions on the refurbishment.

She said: ‘It’s actually been quite a difficult thing to do because obviously what’s really hard is making decisions without him. When you’re in a relationship, I was guided by what Tom would say about things.

‘I probably would ultimately have made the decision but you’ve always got your partner to lean on. But what’s quite cute is I have all the messages from Tom about what he wanted to do with the hall.

She added: ‘Do you know what I’m so excited for? To get rid of the black carpet. Black carpet and blonde hair is just not the one!’

It comes after Kelsey emotionally revealed how she’s consumed with ‘guilt’ over not being able to ‘save’ late husband Tom amid his brain cancer battle.

In the final episode of her show Kelsey Parker: Life After Tom, Kelsey headed for a therapy session, in which she admitted it will take ‘years and years to get over’ her guilt.

As she reflected on life without her husband, Kelsey was asked by her therapist how she felt emotionally, with the widow remarking that she can’t get rid of the feeling that she was unable to stop Tom from dying.

Plans: Kelsey said it has been ‘difficult’ to make decisions without her late husband as she discussed refurbishing her house

Fighting back the tears, she said: ‘There’s still this guilt element, which I don’t think will go away over night.

‘It will take years and years to get over, the guilt that I wasn’t able to save him. But I know deep down in my heart that I did everything I could.’

The therapist went on to ask what she hoped for in the future, with Kelsey responding that she just wants to be happy, though she admitted that she needs to find herself again after two years dedicated to nursing her husband through his illness.

She explained that she ‘completely lost myself’ while caring for Tom for two years and then after he died, she was ‘left to pick up the pieces’.

Kelsey – who recently told how Christmas was ‘harder than she anticipated’ – added she feels like she’s on a ‘massive journey to find out who I am’ after Tom’s death.

Reflecting on the therapy session afterwards, Kelsey said: ‘It’s nice talking about the future but the future is hard for me.

‘Right now I want to get rid of the pain and feel happiness, but I know happiness is something I might not get now. This is hard, this thing that I’m living with is never ending, it’s a never ending grief. Grief is just a strange, strange thing.’
