Viewers label the 2022 ARIA Awards ‘absolute crap’ and a ‘mess’ and are left shocked by its ‘amateur production’: ‘I can’t believe they aired that sh*t show’
Frustrated viewers took to social media on Thursday evening to vent their disappointment with the 2022 ARIA Awards ceremony in Sydney.
The music industry’s night of nights was slammed for its ‘amateur production’ and labelled ‘absolute crap’, with many dismissing the event as a ‘fever dream’ that the late Kerry Packer – once owner of Channel Nine – would surely have pulled the plug on.
And the savaging didn’t stop there. In fact, it had only just begun.
While Natalie Imbruglia (pictured) looked stunning on the night, frustrated viewers took to social media in their droves to vent their disappointment with the 2022 ARIA Awards ceremony in Sydney
‘Not sure the producers of the #ARIAAwards will be getting more gigs anytime soon, what a mess,’ wrote one disgruntled viewer.
‘I swear this Arias is a fever dream. A lot of the hipsters have become too fashion ironic and imploded their identity….Plus, it feels really amateur,’ wrote another.
‘Not to complain but… the #arias broadcast still needs a lot of work – at least from a audience perspective. Not everybody is a natural-born presenter, either. Maybe less dad jokes and more music next time? Just a thought,’ commented another.
And the roasting continued, with many comments unpublishable, so was the fury of viewers.

Christian Wilkins and comedian Lucinda Froomes Price struggled doing an outside broadcast
The pair seemed lost in the madness of it all. But they weren’t alone, it was utter chaos inside on the main stage too
Poorly placed cameras were dotted around the Hordern, missing the action on the stage and capturing attendee’s heads instead
‘I absolutely LOVE music but this production of the ARIAS is so hard to watch. How could they get it so wrong?’ wrote one more.
‘Watching the #arias on TV and did they just throw the show together today or was there maybe an afternoon on zoom worth of planning involved,’ wondered another.
‘The ARIAs gave a very strong Rock Eisteddfod vibe. Actually, that’s offensive to public high school students,’ quipped one more.

And the roasting continued, with many comments unpublishable, so was the fury of viewers
‘Do we know if they’ll announce the high school that is producing next year’s #ARIAs tonight?’ snapped another.
‘Just watched the ARIA’s…. absolute waste of time and probably the worst awards show I’ve ever seen in my life. Absolute crap! That’s me done,’ wrote another.
‘I can’t believe they aired that shit show. Was waiting for someone to pull a Kerry Packer and kill it halfway through,’ wrote one more.
‘Not to complain but… the #arias broadcast still needs a lot of work – at least from a audience perspective. Not everybody is a natural-born presenter, either. Maybe less dad jokes and more music next time? Just a thought,’ commented another. Pictured: Vance Joy
‘That’s it. I can categorically say I will never watch a single other #ARIAs ever while there is air in my lungs,’ added one more viewer, while another branded the show was ‘painful, laboured and unwatchable’.
Elsewhere, one viewer seemed to be taking delight in the music industry dumpster fire.
‘The #arias getting roasted tonight is the real entertainment,’ they wrote.
To make matters worse, the biggest night in Australian music ended with a musical tribute to Olivia Newton-John, performed by Natalie Imburglia, Kye, Peking Duk and Tones & I, and fans didn’t like it one bit.

‘Olivia Newton John deserved better than this,’ one fan wrote on Twitter.
‘What a train wreck of a show, they should asked the music teacher from Apollo Bay to put it together #arias,’ said another.
‘What the f- was that! Olivia deserved better than that sh-,’ wrote another.
