Zara McDermott reveals what really happened in viral Made in Chelsea clip with Sam Thompson

Reality star Zara McDermott has recently opened up about the very public breakup she experienced with Made In Chelsea ’s Sam Thompson, which unfortunately turned into a viral meme.

Their whirlwind romance hit a rough patch during lockdown when Zara admitted to cheating on Sam in the early days of their relationship. Despite the turmoil, the couple managed to reconcile, and their love is stronger than ever now. However, the memories of their very public split still linger.

During a recent episode of Sam and Pete Wick 's podcast, Staying Relevant, Zara shared her thoughts on the memes circulating online about their Made In Chelsea breakup. One of the most viral scenes was Zara's emotional reaction when Sam declared that it was over.

Addressing the meme, Zara felt the need to provide more context and clarify her emotions during that difficult time. She stated, "I just need to give a bit more context to the meme. People say, 'she wasn't crying'…"

Sam, always ready to tease, chimed in: "You weren't crying, you had not one tear. The driest eyes in the building."

Zara explained, "Can I just say I had… I remember that scene; we turn up to this park, and I turn up at 12.30 pm, and we filmed through until – I remember I left there at 6 pm."

It turned out that the scene, which appeared to be brief on TV, was, in fact, a six-hour filming session. Zara had spent a considerable amount of time in an emotional state, and the parts shown in the meme were just the moments where she was at her breaking point.

Sam jokingly remarked that that bit didn’t make it to the camera, to which Zara responded that at the start of filming she was more “tearful” and Sam playfully added that she had "cried dust."

Pete, who is no stranger to reality TV drama himself, shared a similar experience during one of his heated arguments on camera. He revealed eventually he “switched off”, and was “completely blank” from emotional exhaustion.

Luckily, Zara and Sam made it out the other side and now their relationship is going from strength to strength. In a chat with OK! Sam admitted that kids and marriage are "definitely are on the cards".

He shared: "We’ve spoken about it [kids], but just not immediately. Zara is 26 and she’s doing so much with her career, which I am too, so we want to focus on that at the moment".

"Everyone tells me that once you have kids everything changes and your life isn't just your own anymore, so we just want to make sure we’ve done “us” first," explained Sam.

While they may not be engaged yet, Sam is already planning his stag do, and is set to rope in best friend Pete Wicks to help with the celebrations.

"When we do [have kids] Pete is 100% the godfather. And when we get married one day, he’s the best man. The stag will be in Vegas, Pete needs to organise that," laughed the podcast host.
