5 players have registered hauls of 20+ points in Game Week 4 – a Dream Team rarity!

GAME WEEK 4 of the 2022/23 season will go down as an historic one in the Dream Team history books.

With one fixture remaining (Leicester v Manchester United this evening) a whopping five players have registered hauls of 20+ points.

This is an extremely rare occurrence – it didn’t happen once throughout all of last season.

To celebrate this rarity, let’s quickly run through the five in-form performers…

Ruben Neves (£2.4m)

We start with the one that has gone most under the radar amid the madness of Game Week 4.

Wolves’ captain banked 20 points thanks to back-to-back Star Man awards against Newcastle and Bournemouth.

Bruno Lage’s side would have been disappointed to take just two points from the two fixtures but it was a prosperous week for Neves from an individual perspective following his goal against the Magpies.

Our ratings providers WhoScored judged him to be the best of a bad bunch during the 0-0 stalemate between Wolves and the Cherries on Wednesday night.

Aleksandar Mitrovic (£3.9m)

Who said he could only do it in the Championship?

Fulham’s No9 is dishing out humble pie to his critics at an alarming rate at the start of this season.

Goals against Arsenal and Brighton (first and fourth in the table respectively when he faced them) have taken Mitrovic to five goals from his first five games.

The Serbian target man bullied his way to another deserved Star Man award against the Seagulls to bag 21 points this Game Week.

Only a certain Norwegian striker has more points overall than Mitrovic’s 43 at this stage.

Raheem Sterling (£4.5m)

Chelsea’s week was ruined by a shock defeat to Southampton on Tuesday night but their fans can take heart from the fact their new attacking weapon is emphatically up and running.

Having looked threatening in previous weeks, Sterling finally converted his promising performances into significant returns with a brace against Leicester.

The England international then opened the scoring at St Mary’s to make it three goals in four days for his new club – an effort that translated to a 26-point haul.

With an ownership of 24.5%, Sterling is one of the most-popular assets in the game so this windfall will have pleased a lot of gaffers who may have been feeling itchy a few days ago.

Roberto Firmino (£3.2m)

There would have been many Dream Team managers who believed the Brazilian’s best returns were behind him.

That theory was dealt a major blow this week as Liverpool’s No9 was the chief architect of Bournemouth’s demise at Anfield on Saturday.

Of the Reds’ nine goals, Firmino scored two and assisted three, which was more than enough to earn him the Star Man award and the resulting 24 points.

The 30-year-old then scored his side’s first goal against Newcastle on Wednesday night to add a further eight points to his Game Week haul, taking it to a mightily impressive 32!

Erling Haaland (£7.5m)

Last but most definitely not least, the Etihad’s resident cyborg achieved something very rare in the realm of Dream Team this week by banking 51 points.

As far as statements of intent go, consecutive Premier League hat-tricks is about as ominous as you can get.

Crystal Palace were first to feel his wrath before Nottingham Forest were ruthlessly targeted in midweek.

The truly intimidating aspect of Haaland’s performances was the rapid nature of the hat-tricks, achieved in 19 minutes and 26 minutes respectively.

With the first month of the season at an end, Manchester City’s No9 already has 79 points to his name and a 36-point cushion at the top of the rankings.

No wonder there’s already talk about tumbling records…
