He was taken to hospital after being found by a colleague passing on his way to work. The incident occurred on June 27.
Father-of-four Mr Burton, whose partner Mash Snowden, 30, is pregnant, suffered a broken neck, a ruptured liver, a punctured lung, broken ribs and blood clots in his kidney, and doctors said he was lucky to have survived.
‘When I woke up, I was absolutely in bits. I’m usually the self-sufficient one looking after my family and I couldn’t even feed myself. I couldn’t even wash myself,’ he recalled.
‘The car came from behind me so I didn’t get a look at it. I don’t remember anything apart from cycling, then everything turning black and waking up with my colleagues huddled around me.

Mr Burton spoke of how much he appreciates his partner Mash, pictured, helping him, even when she is ‘hot and bothered and pregnant’
‘The doctors and nurses were saying it was a miracle that I’ve made it out the other side as I broke my neck.
‘It’s also the mental side of it. It doesn’t feel right to depend on Mash when I’m usually “Mr Dependable”.
‘It can’t be easy for her having to do everything for me when she’s hot, bothered and pregnant. I can’t work now either. The irony is I was on my way to work to support my family.’
Mr Burton spent five days in hospital before being discharged. He is recovering at home as he waits for police to find the person responsible.
Mr Burton, who is still recovering from his horrid injuries, has shared his story in the hopes of finding the person who struck him and to warn others. Pictured, his back following the crash
Robbie added: ‘I just hope someone comes forward with some information to find the driver.
‘If my colleague hadn’t spotted me when he did and I was just left there, I don’t think I would be here. It’s not the right way to go about things.’
