Bad Bunnys Ex-Girlfriend Launches A $40 Million Lawsuit Against Him

Bad Bunny may be in a new relationship with Kendall Jenner, but his ex-girlfriend is still very much a presence in his life, albeit a negative one. The singer is currently facing a $40 million lawsuit over an audio recording.

The case was filed by Bad Bunny’s ex Carliz De La Cruz Hernandez. The former couple had a years-long relationship that began in 2011.

While still together, Carliz says she made an audio recording of the phrase, “Bad Bunny baby,” in 2015. However, after they broke up, Bad Bunny proceeded to use the recording on several of his songs without her permission.

The phrase can be heard on his 2017 song “Pa Ti” and the 2022 track “Dos Mil 16,” which both have over 200 million listens on Spotify.

According to court documents, Carliz’s attorneys are arguing that the breach of privacy has caused her emotional distress.

“Thousands of people have commented directly on Carliz’s social media networks, as well as every time she goes to a public place, about ‘Bad Bunny baby,’” they read. “This has caused, and currently causes, De La Cruz to feel worried, anguished, intimidated, overwhelmed and anxious.”

The timing of Carliz’s lawsuit is interesting, given that Bad Bunny and Kendall went public with their relationship in mid-February. Instagram gossip account DeuxMoi posted an anonymous tip that insinuated the pair were an item, only days before photos were public of the duo getting cozy.

In February, a source told PEOPLE that while it’s new, Kendall and Bad Bunny are excitedly exploring a romantic connection. “Kendall recently started hanging out with him,” the insider said. “They were introduced by friends. He moved to L.A. a few weeks ago and bought a house.”

“She likes him and is having fun,” they continued. “He is different from guys that she dated in the past. He is very charming.”

Kendall recently ended a two-year relationship with Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker. The couple called it quits in November, after a brief break-up in June of the same year.

Bad Bunny seemingly made a diss towards Devin in his new song “Coco Chanel” with Eladio Carrión’s, where he sings, “I’m not bad baby, that’s a gimmick / But the Puerto Rico sun in warmer than the one in Phoenix.”

Devin hasn’t publicly responded to Bad Bunny’s lyrics or Kendall’s new romance.
