Several celebrities – including Kim Cattrall, Hilaria Baldwin and Matt Bomer – took to social media to mourn the loss of Treat Williams following his death at the age of 71 on Monday.
“I’m in shock! RIP Dear Treat. My condolences to Pam, Gilles, Ellie and the family. A wonderful actor and friend,” Cattrall tweeted alongside a photo of them acting together in the 1999 movie “36 Hours to Die.”
The “Sex and the City” alum was referring to William’s wife, Pam Van Sant, and their two children, Gill and Elinor.
“This is a tough one, and I don’t like doing this on social media, but I want to share what an absolute treasure Treat Williams was- both as an actor and a person,” Bomer – who played Williams’ son in “White Collar” – captioned a photo of his TV dad on Monday.
Bomer continued raving that Williams “was one of the few actors I’ve worked with who always checked in on me – even years after we worked together. Treat- you were an amazing actor and an even better person and I will miss you. I count myself so blessed to have known you. My heart goes out to your wife and children. Rest in Peace my friend.”
Alec Baldwin’s wife, Hilaria Baldwin, took to her Instagram Story to share how “sick” and “broken” her family feels after the loss of her husband’s “Drunk Parents” co-star.
Meanwhile, actress Melissa Gilbert shared two emotional tributes to Williams – with the first expressing her shock and writing “this is not real. It can’t be.”
“None of us will forget his kindness and humanity. Especially me. Oh how you are loved and oh how you will be missed. All my love to Pam and the kids during this horrible, heartbreaking time. Dearest Treat my friend and childhood crush, may flights of angels sing thee to thy rest,” she captioned her second post.
Williams’ “Everwood” and “Hair” co-stars also expressed their condolences.
“💔 The many times we worked together- always wonderful and I was always excited for the next time. Sending all my love to your family Treat. Fly high my friend ✨,” Emily VanCamp wrote alongside a young photo of Williams.
Beverly D’Angelo, who co-starred with Williams on “Hair” and “A Streetcar Named Desire,” shared their last text message interaction. At the time, she thanked “treatski” for calling her minutes before to discuss “the importance of adapting, growing” in the acting and directing industry.
“A gifted sincere magnificent human who valued fatherhood and family above all,” she wrote in part. “I hope you hear everyone singing your praises Treat. I will miss you. I cry for you. Fly.”
Gregory Smith, who played Williams’ son on “Everwood,” told People in a statement: “This news is devastating. Treat was a wonderful man and a brilliant actor. Above all, he loved his family so much. I’m very grateful for the time I got to spend as part of his extended tv family.
“He made an indelible impression on me during my most formative years. I will always cherish my time with Treat and think fondly of his stories, his laugh and his passion for adventure.”
Wendell Pierce, who co-starred with Williams on the 2016 film “Confirmation,” also chimed in and gushed, “Treat Williams was a passionate, adventurous, creative man. In a short period of time, he quickly befriended me & his adventurous spirit was infectious. We worked on just 1 film together but occasionally connected over the years. Kind and generous with advice and support. RIP.”

Actor James Woods also tweeted, “Treat and I spent months in Rome filming Once Upon a Time in America. It can be pretty lonely on the road during a long shoot, but his resilient good cheer and sense of humor was a Godsend. I really loved him and am devastated that he’s gone.”
Billy Baldwin also paid tribute on Twitter by writing, “He had it all. Smart. Talented. Funny. Charming. Successful. Handsome. Compassionate. Heart of gold. And that name… Treat Williams. He truly and deeply cared about what’s going on here in America and around the world.”
As previously reported, Williams died Monday following a motorcycle accident in Vermont.
“He was killed this afternoon. He was making a left or a right [and] a car cut him off,” Williams’ rep, Barry McPherson, told People in a statement. “I’m just devastated. He was the nicest guy. He was so talented.”
