Celebs are among those showing off their invites to King's Coronation

Have you received your invite yet? Jay Blades, charity fundraisers, priests and soap stars show off their invitations to King Charles’ Coronation

The Repair Shop’s Jay Blades MBE and former Coronation Street actor Tracy Brabin are among the lucky people showing off their invitations to King Charles’ Coronation.

Charity fundraisers and a priest have also taken to social media to announce they have been selected to attend the historic event on May 6.

Invitees have shared images of the ornate invite received in the post, saying they feel ‘blown away’ to be included.

Taking to his Twitter and Instagram accounts yesterday, presenter and furniture restorer Jay Blades, 53, encouraged his followers to give their thoughts on his invite.

Father-of-three Jay, who is now based in Ironbridge, Shropshire, after growing up in poverty in Hackney, is Co-Chair of Heritage Crafts Association (a national charity aiming to safeguard craft skills), of which King Charles is President.

The duo also hit it off after the monarch appeared on The Repair Shop in 2022 as part of a special episode to mark the BBC’s centenary celebrations. After cracking jokes together, excited fans labelled them ‘the double act we didn’t know that we need’.

Mayor of West Yorkshire Tracy Brabin, who previously played Tricia Armstrong in Coronation Street tweeted a video of herself opening up the special envelope.

‘Special delivery this morning…,’ she tweeted. ‘What an honour to be invited to represent #WestYorkshire at the Coronation of King Charles lll and Camilla.’

Max Woosey, 13, who spent three years sleeping in a tent in his Devon garden – through rain, sleet, snow and storms – and raised £700k in the process for his local hospice spotted a special tweet on the Royal Family Instagram account. The tweet showed a Coronation invite with his name on it.

‘Now it feels really real! Obviously Mum’s crying again. (Probably because it’s Dads name on it not hers) #coronation.’

Row Aurora, which raises money and awareness for the Big Purple Pants charity, also posted an image of an excited Dawn Wood opening up her invite on Instagram.

‘BOSH!!! The invite to Westminster has landed! Dawn has had the OFFICIAL word from her new besties King Charles III and Queen Camilla that they want her at their big party!

‘Last year Dawn was awarded the British Empire Medal for services to Maritime Policing, and so has been invited to the Coronation!’

The post added: ‘HUGE congratulations to Smithy for this brilliant achievement. Now she just needs just find a posh frock for the occasion….but she has a cunning plan for this…more on this later in the week!’

Joanne Gates BEM, who was awarded the British Empire Medal in the New Years Honours List 2021, will also be among the lucky attendees.

The Store Manager for Co-op Hall Street in Stockport tweeted: ‘A surreal moment receiving the most beautiful invitation in the post. So many emotions but still can’t quite believe I’ve been invited by the to attend the King’s Coronation. Put a smile on my face after work.’

Reverend Matthew Price, who has been vicar of Gorleston’s Mary Magdalene church since 2018, was delighted to receive the invitation from Buckingham Palace.

He told People: ‘I received an email a few weeks ago so I knew it was coming, but I was blown away by the beauty of the invitation when it arrived — it’s stunning!’
