THERE is no rest for the men who dominated the thrilling finish at the PGA Championship, with winner Brooks Koepka and the two men who shared second – Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland – all back in action this week.

But there will be no chance for Scheffler or Hovland to take revenge for their two-shot defeat at Oak Hill.

Both men are in action at the Charles Schwab Challenge in Texas, while Kopeka returns to his LIV paymasters for their latest event, in Washington DC.

Koepka naturally heads the market in Washington after returning to his brilliant best by claiming a fifth Major championship – hard on the heels of a runner-up finish at the Masters.

The 8-1 about Kopeka making it back-to-back wins looks tempting. But the snag is that he was never that fussed about non-Majors when he was a PGA Tour player.

His latest triumph will have taken a lot out of him, and there is a good chance that his thoughts will already be revolving around how he can win a third US Open title in Los Angeles next month.

Scheffler is a shorter priced favourite at Colonial, even though he faces a full field of 120 players, while it will be the usual 48 in the LIV tournament.

But it is hard to argue with the 5-1 – or less – on offer as Scheffler has been a model of consistency for the last seven months.

He has not finished outside the top 12 in his last 14 starts, a streak that has produced two wins and a couple of seconds, with that joint runner-up finish at Oak Hill taking him back to the top of the world rankings.

He is also guaranteed plenty of support in the State he now calls home – and even without Koepka in his sights, Scheffler will still be on a revenge mission.

Scheffler was furious at letting the 54 hole lead slip in this event last year. He was caught by the fast-finishing Sam Burns, who defied winds gusting up to 30mph to shoot a final round 65, and then finished the job off inva play-off.

The hackers queuing up for lessons from club professional Block back in California will have to wait a while longer, as his Oak Hill heroics – crowned by that slam-dunk hole in one in the final round – earned him a sponsor’s invite this week.

He was dubbed ‘Rocky’ – sorry, Blocky – by the adoring Rochester galleries, who loved the sight of a 46 year old underdog taking down many of the world’s best players, before finishing in a share of 15th.

The competition is not quite so hot this week, and as a fiddly par 70, Colonial should suit Block, a short hitter who relies on putting magic to go low.

If you shop around, you can find odds of 500-1 about him adding a new chapter to the fairytale of New York. And there will be plenty of sentimental punters willing to have a small wager – just in case.

I’m more attracted to the 14-1 about Hovland, who would have made a real slugfest of it against Koepka if he had not drilled a shot into the face of a bunker with three holes to go, running up a costly double bogey.

Hovland, 25 is playing his best golf in the Majors – 4th, 7th, and second in the last three – and it was a similar story when he finished tied third behind Scheffler at the Players Championship.

Once he begins to show the same intensity in lower ranked events he will be winning for fun. It could start here.

Chris Kirk was flagged up as a 200-1 a shot worth keeping an eye on at Oak Hill, and he was not far away from rewarding each way interest, finishing in a tie for 29th despite a clumsy second round 75.

His odds have been trimmed to 40-1 this week, but I still fancy him to go well. And Justin Rose could make a mockery of his 25-1 quote if he finds a few fairways, the only thing that held him back from making a real run at the PGA title.

The bookies appear to have taken an even bigger chance by pricing Sepp Straka up at 100-1. He finished like a train at Oak Hill to claim a share of seventh place, while 66-1 shot Kurt Kitayama matched his closing 65 to finish tied fourth.

LIV rebels Cameron Smith and Bryson DeChambeau shared fourth with Kitayama last week. They are the two who make most appeal in Washington, especially if Koepka is not fully at it.

DeChambeau had his best finish in a LIV event with fifth place just before Oak Hill, and he now tackles a course that can stretch out to a whopping 7,770 yards – perfect for his monster hitting.

At a best-priced 20-1, he gets the vote in Washington.
