Conjoined twins spill on sex life after one gets boyfriend and other doesn’t

A pair of conjoined twins admit there are “a lot of challenges” that come with being fused together – including their dating lives.

Lupita and Carmen Andrare, 22, had a life expectancy of just three days as they share a pelvis, reproductive system, liver and bloodstream.

But they defied the odds and now live life in tandem – despite their very different views on sex.

While Carmen has a boyfriend called Daniel who she met on dating app Hinge, Lupita identifies as asexual.

Carmen, who is originally from Mexico but now lives in the US, told FEMAIL: "I was obviously going to be transparent about everything… It was a learning process for everybody.

"We obviously had to have a discussion on what boundaries are OK and what aren't."

Despite being in a relationship, Carmen and Daniel don’t have sex and focus on their “close friendship” instead.

And when sharing a bed, the twins have their own routine figured out.

Carmen told Today: “It’s funny because I stay up later than Lupita, but when Daniel sleeps over, I fall asleep quickly – and he stays up talking to her.

“Sometimes I feel bad because I want to spend so much time with Daniel.

“So we try to come up with compromises. Like, [Lupita] will choose where we go out to dinner, or what activity we’re going to do.”

Carmen said marriage isn't on her mind – but admitted she'd rather be "life partners" with the right person.

While the relationship seems to be going well, she won’t be able to fall pregnant.

She told Jubilee: “Daniel and I love kids, but we don’t want any of our own.

“I like being a dog mum. Lupita and I can’t get pregnant, we have endometriosis and we’re also on a hormone blocker that prevents us from menstruating.”

For now, the sisters are focused on their careers.

Both Carmen and Lupita have similar ambitions in life – as they hope to get into the veterinary industry in the future.

And when they're not working towards that goal, they explore their passion for fashion by making their own clothing.

They enjoy styling themselves differently and aren't afraid to explore hobbies as individuals – from studying to listening to music.

The twins, who have been told their separation could result in death or years of intensive care, are used to spending all their time together.

They added: “We’ve been conjoined our whole life, so it’s not like we miss our independence. It’s all we’ve ever known, right?”
