Coolio’s ‘severe asthma’ could’ve contributed to his death: friends

New information surrounding the circumstances of Coolio’s death is coming to light.

Police discovered three bags of drugs and drug-related paraphernalia at the scene where the “Gangsta’s Paradise” rapper was found dead, according to the coroner’s report obtained by Page Six.

It notes that the bags were reported to have belonged to Coolio, whose real name was Artis Leon Ivey Jr.

Authorities also collected “a baggy with a brown powdery substance, foil with burn residue, a straw/tube, saline solution, a spoon with residue” as well as over-the-counter CBD products and vitamins.

The coroner’s report and investigation dispute initial claims that no illicit substances were discovered at the scene, which was Coolio’s friend’s Los Angeles pad.

The “Fantastic Voyage” performer died on Sept. 28, 2022, with friends suspecting his “severe asthma” played a role; however, it was announced Thursday he died from a fentanyl overdose.

The autopsy report also noted that he had heroin and methamphetamine in his system at the time of his death at age 59.

Coolio’s manager, Jarez Posey, shared that the Grammy winner’s seven adult children — Brandi, Jackie, Melan, Christopher, Artis III, Darius and Artisha — plan to honor his legacy through his music as well as sentimental jewelry they had previously made.

Following their father’s cremation, the group had his ashes placed inside seven necklaces. Each child personalized his or her pendant with an inscription.

Coolio did without a will, leaving his kids to inherit his $300,000 estate that included all of his “personal property and demand deposit accounts, financial accounts, insurance policies and royalties.”

Coolio had 10 kids in total.

Montell Jordan, who was on tour with Coolio days before the “Hit ’em High” rapper’s death, told Page Six exclusively that he would have never expected that his longtime friend’s death was imminent.

“I’ve been with him for weeks and for months now, and I did not know — and still don’t know — the circumstances behind his passing,” the “This Is How We Do It” singer, 54, said last September, “but I did not see anything that would have given an indication that he was ill or that anything happened to him.”
