Coronation Street star Paddy Bever’s life off screen is worlds away from troubled teen Max Turner

Paddy Bever who plays the role of troubled teen Max Turner in Coronation Street is worlds away from the turbulent nine months he's had on screen.

In the past nine months the Coronation Street character has gone through some rather difficult times, from a terrifying fall, the prospect of a prison stint and slicing his leg on smashed glass.

The 20 year old first appeared on the Cobbles back in September as the new face of David Platt's stepson Max Turner, taking over the role from Harry McDermott, who had played Max from 2010.

Paddy was a member of Cheadle Hulme Players Youth Theatre before going on to join the Manchester School of Acting before he landed his first major acting role as Max in Corrie.

At the 2022 National Television Awards Paddy also won the Rising Star gong for his role as Max and was left overwhelmed by his incredible win.

He won the gong over other stars such as Bridgerton's Charithra Chandran and Kit Connor and Joe Locke from Netflix hit series Heartstopper.

As his name was announced, Paddy looked gobsmacked as he ran to the stage to collect his award while being cheered on by his co-stars.

Paddy, who was left speechless, said: "Erm, wow!" as he struggled to get his words out.

As he managed to get some words out he said he was proud of his “first ever acting job”.

He later shared a heartwarming selfie on Instagram with the caption "THANK YOU".

Corrie later shared the pic on their own social media and wrote: "Incredibly proud of our Paddy. Thank you once again to everyone at home for voting."

Georgia Taylor, who plays Toyah Habeeb in the ITV soap, replied: "Yes, Paddy!! We bloomin adore you."

Abi Webster actress Sally Carman said: "Amaaaaaaazing," while Laura Neelan actress Kel Allen wrote: "Our rising star has risen!!! Well done our Paddy! We’re all so super proud of you and rightly deserved."

In November last year, he celebrated his 20th birthday where he shared snaps on his Instagram of his dog and a few friends with the caption "twentieth birthday. feeling all the love :)".

Over on his Instagram recently, the soap star shared a dramatic hair transformation with fans now seeing him sporting a new buzz cut.

He was previously known for his iconic blonde locks and long fringe.

Paddy's new look comes as his character on the soap is set to spend some time behind bars for encouraging terrorism, after he was groomed by a far-right gang.

Speaking to the Mirror about another key storyline involving him being bribed with a nude picture Paddy said: "I think it was very important to me to be very focused and to get it very right because this genuinely affects so many people. I even know tens of people this has happened to at a very young age and it really does happen.

"What could make someone more vulnerable than a photo of that? I don't know. I think it's a turning point, I really do."
