Diplo debuts White Lotus theme song remix: Video
PARK CITY, Utah — Diplo kicked off his set at Tao’s Park City pop-up with a new remix of the wildly popular “White Lotus” theme song.
The famed DJ, who took the stage at 1:30 a.m. local time Saturday after he was introduced with a Moët Champagne parade, immediately drew cheers from the massive crowd once the familiar tune kicked off.
“That was sick,” one attendee said while imitating the song’s signature chant.
While Diplo took the stage, sadly without his clementines, VIPs including Tao Group head honcho Jon Schwartz and Utah Jazz player Jordan Clarkson, were seen standing behind the musician. Some even ripped shots of tequila straight from the bottle.
Internet sensation JT Firstman, dressed in a (faux?) fur coat was also seen partying in the VIP section and enjoying the viral tune, which is actually named “Renaissance” and is by Chilean American composer Cristobal Tapia de Veer.
Diplo’s night in Park City obviously went smoother than when he was hired to deejay a Cannes Film Festival party and security wouldn’t let him in.
“I was booked to DJ a yacht party in Cannes but security wouldn’t let me in,” the DJ said in the video shared on Instagram at the time.
“The yacht was empty so I was about to take the L and go get food.”
The video also showed a woman trying to convince security that, “He’s the DJ,” while Diplo — real name Thomas Wesley Pentz — tried to explain that owner of the yacht hired him. The guard still refused to let him in until the owner of the yacht happened to walk by and told him Diplo really was the talent.
