Exactly how Tyrique and Ella met before Love Island villa

Shortly after the latest Love Island series kicked off, it was revealed that Islanders Ella Thomas and Tyrique Hyde already knew each other from outside the villa.

However, in an awkward turn of events, the encounter clearly wasn’t a memorable one for Tyrique as he claimed he couldn’t remember it.

Tyrique, 24, is a semi-professional footballer who originally hails from Essex and currently plays as a midfielder for East Sussex club Lewes FC. He's the son of former Watford and Jamaica player Micah Hyde.

Ella, 23, from Glasgow, is a successful model and was even awarded Female Model of the Year at the Scottish Media Awards in October 2022.

After the duo were chosen to couple up by the public, Ella told the girls: “I have met him before. Physically I am like yeah, he is good looking and my type. But I have already met him.”

When asked about how they’d met, she said: “Out in London. I’m not being funny but he is literally pretending he doesn’t remember, but there’s no way he doesn’t remember.”

Tyrique told her “I swear to god I don’t remember” when she brought it up with him again, later on in the show.

However, she then revealed that she had blonde hair at the time which might have meant he didn't recognise her. Tyrique went on to admit that her face "did look familiar".

The Tab reported that there was a two-week window in February this year where Ella had blonde hair, and she posted to Instagram revealing she was in London for the last weekend in February.

The outlet reported that she posted a photo at Japanese restaurant Roka in Mayfair, where none other than Tyrique was also dining that exact same night.

The pictures seem to match up in date and location, which means that they met for the first time just three months ago.

Although Tyrique was coupled up with Ella at the start, in a shock recoupling on Tuesday, bombshell Leah Taylor had first dibs on the boys and chose Tyrique.

While it took him a while to make up his mind, Tyrique ultimately decided to pursue things with Ella rather than getting to know new girl Leah.
