Faye Brookes’ new ‘mocha melt’ hair is the perfect salon autumnal colour to ask for

Thinking of going darker for autumn/winter? Many of us use these seasons as a reason to transition our hair colour into something a bit closer in shade to our roots in a bid to restore its condition and shine. But if you’re worried about ending up with a boring base, you only need to look to former Corrie and Dancing on Ice star Faye Brookes for brunette inspiration.

The 35 year old has just revealed a new “mocha melt” hair colour transformation on her Instagram page after deciding to give her look a bit of an update for the new season.

“Big hair, big dreams. Thank you@calumtierneyfor working your magic yet again! Wearing @saltclubhair because they’re simply the best and so are you lovely man!” she writes, dishing out plenty of praise on her colourist Calum.

Calum also works with the likes of Michelle Keegan, who he famously created a “contoured” colour for back in November 2020. On his Instagram page, Calum calls Faye’s colour “a mocha melt brunette”: a shade rich in warm tones but still featuring some sunkissed accents towards the ends of the hair.

Along similar lines, two other brunette colour trends set to be big this autumn are “bronzed wood” and “glazed olive”. They sound a little odd but both of these shades are multidimensional, glossy and feature plenty of warmth.

“Bronzed wood shades of brown dominated A/W22 Fashion Week, with designers like Chloe and Chanel displaying the versatility and richness of this hue,” explainsJordanna Cobella, Cobella salon owner and Wella Professionals expert. “The shade is a mixture of subtle caramel hues with darker neutral tones running throughout the hair. Muted multi-dimensional hues add depth and movement to lengths. What really makes the bronzed wood shade pop on the client's hair is its luxurious shine.”

As for a glazed olive colour? “Brunettes will see an autumnal refresh with calming dark olive and violet tones added to remove any warmth and add depth and a pop of unexpected colour,” explains Jordanna. “Again, this colour looks its best when the hair has a luxurious shine.”

Jordanna recommends giving Wella Professionals' new in-salon glaze service, Shinefinity, a try after having your colour done as an ideal way to accentuate butterscotch and rich brunette tones. Go to Wella Professionalssalon finderto find your nearest Shinefinity salon.
