Hayfever sufferers go wild for over-the-counter tablets as they completely sell out

Temperatures across the UK have continued to rise over recent weeks, but while everyone has been enjoying the warmer weather those with hay fever have been struggling with their symptoms.

The rising temperatures have seen pollen levels reach higher than usual, leaving many hay fever sufferers desperately searching for ways to help manage their symptoms.

There are a number of different medications available to help with hay fever symptoms, but it appears that Allevia is currently the most popular, with many rushing to get hold of the tablets.

The high-strength tablet was previously only available via prescription but it can now be purchased over-the-counter.

Allevia is Fexofenadine Hydrochloride and is also sold under the brand name Treathay in the UK, and can be purchased for as little as £4.

However, actually getting hold of a box is now proving to be difficult due to the surge in demand for the tablets, which have been branded a "miracle" by hay fever sufferers, as reported by Yorkshire Live.

Allevia are stronger than traditional treatments such as Cetirizine Hydrochloride and Loratadine, and reportedly so good that some sufferers feel as if they no longer have hay fever after taking them.

Many have taken to social media to praise the medication, with one person writing: "I have gone from having the worst hayfever you will ever see anyone have in your whole life, to feeling like I’ve never had it. Allevia, you have cured me."

Another person added: "Guys Allevia truly are the best hayfever tablets. I suffer from hayfever badly but with one a day, I haven’t even had the slightest nose twitch in weeks!"

A third happy shopper said: "Those Allevia tablets have made forget that I even suffer from hayfever they are literally the best".

Some have spoken about how difficult it is to currently find Allevia in shops, and had even noticed that on Amazon the price of a box had jumped from around £7 up to £20.

The product aims to "provide 24 hour relief of symptoms associated with hayfever," including sneezing, runny or blocked nose, and itchy, watery red eyes.

Allevia aims to relieve symptoms in around one hour with results lasting for 24 hours, and is suitable for adults as well as children aged 12 and over.

You must be at least 16 years old to purchase Allevia in store and online, and prices vary depending on the retailer.

Currently, a box of 15 120mg tablets is priced at £5.89 at Boots, while a pack of seven is priced at £3.49 on Amazon.
