High street discount shop you've never heard of where you can get top brands like Colgate & Nivea – prices start at 30p | The Sun

A HIGH street discount shop you've probably never heard of can beat the prices at most retailers.

Boyes department stores stock a variety of different bargains from clothing and cosmetics, to gardening equipment and bedding.

The discount chain has been operating since 1881 when it was founded in Scarborough, Yorkshire.

Now it has more than 70 shops, largely throughout the north of England.

These include areas like Lincolnshire, Durham, Nottingham, and Teesside.

You can find the full list of locations on the Boyes website.

Shop you’ve never heard of that’s “cheaper than Aldi” with bargains from 70p

Discount retailers are proving massively popular at the moment with prices going up across the board.

The likes of B&M, Home Bargains, and The Range tend to be shopper's go to's but that doesn't mean lesser known shops don't have some bargains for sale.

Boyes has much of its offering available to view on its website, but you'll only be able to pick anything up in store.

Its social media platforms also regularly highlight some of the best savings and deals.

Shoppers are just realising an iconic 90s discontinued food favourite is back

These include sweets, garden furniture, swimming pools and travel essentials – plus lots of toiletries too.

You can pick up big brands like Colgate toothpaste and Nivea suncream for as little as £1.

Plus, you can bag items like toothbrush holders for just 30p.

Shoppers can pick up a bottle of Original Source mint shower gel for just 99p, the same item sells for as much as £1.50 at the likes of Sainsbury's.

We did find some items such as Palmer's Foot Magic cream costs 60p less than at Boots too.

We had a look through the chain's social media and online leaflets and picked out some really cheap items, with prices lower than elsewhere.

For example, it sells Trespass walking boots for as little as £35 and its RRP is usually £65.99.

The discounter also has some holiday bargains on offer perfect for travel this summer, such as a suitcase for £35.99 – £24 off its regular price.

Those with a sweet tooth can find Fox's sweets for as little as £1.

Plus, if you're planning on some gardening this summer the chain also stocks items like hoses and lawn trimmers for £30 and £25 respectively.

It does appear that Boyes has some good deals on branded products, but not everything will be cheaper than other stores.

This is why it is good to shop around to make sure that you are getting the best deal.

If you're looking for other large department stores with some hefty discounts why not try some other lesser known shops like QD Stores or The Original Factory Shop.

Of course there's always the classics too like B&M and Savers.

It's always important to check out how much other retailers are selling a product for instead of diving into the first offer you see.

You can use the Google Shopping tab to trawl the internet to find out how much it is being sold for elsewhere.

Meanwhile, websites like trolley.co.uk let you compare thousands of products based on their online prices.

But bear in mind that means you might not make the same savings when you actually come to shop.

Prices can also vary day to day and by what deals are on at the time, plus remember you might pay for delivery if you're ordering online.
