It could be as simple as being paid to watch TV or renting your parking space or unused attic.

We explain all the ways you could legitimately pocket some extra cash.

Get paid to watch telly

Earning: From £40 per research group

Television addicts can put their knowledge to good use.

Theviewers.co.uk has research panels for broadcasters and programme makers in order to get feedback on TV programmes, before they air.

You can attend face-to-face research groups, fill in surveys online or do both whilst earning £40 for a discussion group. Usually its cash in hand and you get given refreshments.

The online survey fee can vary but it's usually £1 to £10 depending on the length of the survey and the money is paid into your bank account or can be given via vouchers.

Become a problem solver for companies

Earning: £1000s potentially

For those with a technical skill or analytical mind, you could earn some serious cash for problem solving on behalf of a company.

The cash isn't guaranteed but the task is interesting and fun.

You can apply through companies such as InnoCentive and Idea Connection, and you present a solution for a challenge posted.

If your chosen, you'll receive an "award", which can reach over £70,000 however most are £3,800.

Currently you can enter one to win up to $20,000, which is £14,624.78 for us.

But you'll have to be quick, as the challenge closes in just a few days time.

Get paid to Google

Earning: Up to £1 per search

If you want to get paid for browsing the web, then all you need to do is download Qmee.

It works in the background whilst you're using Google, when you click on a result you'll earn cash.

Usually you'll earn 7p to 15p per search but it can be as much as £1, and the cash is then paid to you via Paypal or in giftcards.

You can also earn extra cash by referring your friends too.

Make money from YouTube videos

Earning: £30 a month

You don't need to be Zoella or a famous vlogger to make money from YouTube. Thousands of people earn cash from uploading their clips to the video search engine through the YouTube partner programme.

It puts adverts on to your videos and you earn a part of the cash. The more views you get the more money you’ll make.

The amount you earn will vary on your numbers of views, on videos, and subscribers, but you could end up raking in some serious dosh.

The average YouTube channel earns up to £3.66 per 1,000 video views, according to the Influencer Marketing Hub.

It means that by uploading eight clips a month, you could earn up to £30 a month, as long as the clips get 1,000 views each.

Rent out your spare room

Earning: £1000s

Lodger's are a great way to make the cash, providing you don't mind taking a stranger into your home.

Using the Rent a Room scheme means you don’t pay tax on the first £7,500 you make each year from renting out your home.

However, if you earn more than this you’ll likely be taxed and will need to complete a tax return.

Rent out your driveway or parking space

Earning: Up to £310 a month

If you have a driveway or parking space then you could make money from renting it out.

Websites include JustPark, Parklet and YourParkingSpace who will let your space for you, but they usually charge a fee of around 20% for this service.

The amount you can charge depends on the demand for parking in your area, but some people can make as much as £350 a month, especially if you live in a built up or touristy area.

Set up an ironing service

Earning: £8 to £12 per hour

Invest in a good iron and ironing board to get started.

You can work for yourself and get clients by advertising on local notice boards in supermarkets, shops and the town hall or by asking friends to recommend you.

Alternatively, you can join an agency such as Mrs Hunt’s Staffing, which works with clients in posh parts of London.

Rent out your loft, garage or shed

Earning: Up to £200 a month

If you have spare storage space in your loft, garage, shed or spare room then you could rent it out.

The Storemates website allows you to list your space but it takes 17% of the monthly rent.

You could earn around £25 to £200 a month depending on the size of your space and how many people you're renting it to – but you’ll need to declare your earnings to the tax man.

The good news is that since April 2017 people have been able to earn up to £1,000 tax-free from your property and this includes renting out your storage space.

Fill in surveys online

Earning: Up to £15 a month

Filling surveys means you could bag up to £200 a year.

You'll be given out surveys depending on who you are, where you live and what your interest are, but it can be slow at times as you can’t guarantee when a survey is going to come through.

You can register for free, try i-Say, Swagbucks and PopulusLive. The money is usually paid via PayPal or into your bank account once you’ve earned a certain amount.

Sell your hair

Earning: £200

Got a head of luscious locks? The more hair you sell, the more money you can make.

Obviously, this isn’t going to be something you’ll regularly make cash from (unless you have particularly speedy hair growth) but if you’re going to cut your hair anyway, it could be a simple way to get extra money.

Bloomsbury Wigs and Hair Harvest will pay up to £200 for your hair.

You have to put it in a ponytail before cutting, as buyers may not pay for it otherwise – and they'll need to assess it before they can offer you the maximum amount.

Set up a clothing alteration or sewing service

Earnings: £5 to £10 per hour

If you have a talent for  taking up a pair of trousers or even having a button sewn back on then you could offer to mend clothes for family and friends in return for cash.

If you want regular work, contact a local dry cleaners to set up an alterations service with them.

You can usually charge about £5 to £10 an hour, with a minimum £5 charge.
