‘I have been crying in pain and not able to look after my babies,’ reveals Frankie Essex
Former TOWIE star Frankie Essex gave birth to her twins, whom she shares with boyfriend Luke Love, last May and has since shared updates while settling into life with babies Logan and Luella.
In her exclusive column for OK! , Frankie has discussed a range of topics related to motherhood – from her first social outing with the twins and a blackout at her home when they were just a few days old, to “feeling more human again” as the babies dropped their dreaded 2am feed.
This week Frankie talks about how she's been left in tears over her back pain, her awful experience when going to see a doctor about this, and how Luella has finally started saying mum.
I've been in so much pain – last night was the first time I wasn't left in tears
I've been taking loads and loads of tablets that the doctors have prescribed and every morning the pain eases off but then it comes back with a vengeance in the afternoon and I'll literally be sat on the sofa unable to move, and Luke has to help me get up.
Last night was the first night I didn't cry. I've just been so over the pain, and it's been awful not being able to look after the babies properly. But I am beginning to feel a bit better, but I've got a slipped disc and it's going to take about six weeks to recover.
I've got two stretches which I've been doing every day, three times a day, and I do feel so much better but I am still in pain. Luella keeps trying to copy me and it just looks like she's about to do a roly-poly or get into downward-facing dog
We took the twins to Peppa Pig world
I almost had to cancel the trip because of my bag pain but I'm glad I didn't cause it was so lovely. There was a group of us and we just had such a nice time and the babies absolutely loved it. I would highly recommend it to all mums.
The rides were so short but that was great cause little kids have quite a short attention span, and they have to queue up which they don't really understand, our friend's little boy kept trying to push to the front. Most of the queues were quite short though.
It was just so great and we were there for hours, we must have got there about 10am and didn't leave until four, so we were there all day.
I put suncream on the twins but forgot to put it on myself
I was just fussing over getting the factor 50 on the twins and just completely forgot to put it on myself, so I got so burned. And I just thought 'oh my God, I'm just so stupid', I'd literally been carrying it around all day in my bag.
Obviously, I needed to put it on the babies, but it was a reminder to sometimes put yourself first – I could have put it on straight after I got out of the shower.
Luella has finally started saying mum
I asked Luke 'did she just say mum?' and he said 'I think so.' So now I keep saying it to her and she says it back like 'mum mum mum.' I'm just so happy and hopefully Logan will start copying her and saying it soon too.
Logan and Luella have been loving swimming lessons and playing in the paddling pool
They just get so excited and Logan tries to climb out of my arms to get into the pool quicker. And at Baby Sensory they got a paddling pool out and all the babies got in and were just loving life.
Our babies are so used to being in a paddling pool as we have a garden, but some of the babies there live in flats so it was so nice to see them in the pool too. One of the other mums said she may have to get a paddling pool and just put it in her living room and fill it up with a bucket.
