‘I lived with no heating for four years – Primark essential helped me keep warm’

A woman who claims she lived without heating her home for years gave her tips to those who are looking to save on their energy bills this winter.

Klaire de Lys, who posts on TikTok as @klairedelysofficial, explained how she had to go four years without being able to heat her home, but there were simple, affordable solutions that made it liveable for her.

In the video, which gained more than 3,000 likes, she explained: "So you can't turn the heating on because it's bloody freezing, luckily I have experience in this, four years of experience."

She went on to make some cheap recommendations, firstly, by directing people to buy a cheap pair of leggings from Primark and sizing up so they don't wear out quickly.

Klaire then recommended purchasing a load of cheap oversized t-shirts, which she claims are cheaper to buy in the men's clothing section.

"You want them baggy so they create a bit of an air pocket, you do not want them skin tight," she added.

She also suggests grabbing a big baggy coat to wear around the house and making sure you keep your feet covered with socks and slippers at times.

Finally, she told her 75,000 viewers to pick up a snood, a tube-like piece of fabric that goes around the neck or to make their own out of old leggings.

In a follow-up video, Klaire also explained there are things which can be done around the house to help, including making sure windows and doors are closed and shaking bed linen.

Many TikTok users were grateful for her suggestions as they took to the comments to thank her for her advice amid the cost of living crisis.

One user wrote: "This is fantastic advice that's actually doable!"

Another user commented: "This is super helpful! thank you for sharing."
