A woman said her ultimate dream was to become a housewife as women are "fulfilled" at home, even when they don't have children.

Mikayla Herrmann – AKA @mikayla_beth on Instagram – married her husband, Samuel, five years ago.

They met at a church event back in July 2017, and they have talked every day ever since.

The 25-year-old, from Agra, Oklahoma fell in love very quickly – marrying Samuel by the following year.

She admitted she always dreamt of being a homemaker, so dedicating her life to being a housewife fulfilled her deepest wishes.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star, Mikayla said: "Me and my husband were both raised more traditionally – that it is best for a wife to tend to the home and children, and husband to bring in the primary income.

"For several generations the women in our families have been homemakers, and not had a job outside of the home, so there was really no question in my mind about what I would do after marriage.

"My husband owns his own machine shop and metal working business in our small town, and I enjoy supporting him in this.

"Living more self-sufficiently has always peaked my interest.

"Growing up, I would read Little House on The Prairie, and dream of having that kind of lifestyle.

"Even though they went through many hardships, it seemed like such a fulfilling way of living.

"I was born and raised in a big city, and never thought that would be a reality for me."

Before the couple tied the knot, Mikayla worked as a carer for an elderly woman and juggled another job as an optician.

But, after she got married, she moved to Samuel's small town and they started running a farm.

Her husband had experience raising cattle for several years, but he wasn’t particularly interested in the small farm lifestyle himself.

"He fully supports me in it, and helps me tend to things now and then", she added.

"But mostly our farm life was my dream, and is my responsibility.

"I went from having zero agricultural knowledge to having a successful homestead.

"I spend a majority of my time outside taking care of the animals and growing a garden.

"Last year I grew and preserved over 400lbs of produce for us to eat throughout the year.

"We also raise and process our own meat."

Mikayla also raises dairy goats for milking to make soaps, cheeses and caramels.

She also recently purchased a Jersey so she can make her own dairy products.

The happy housewife said she's made it a goal of hers to cook from scratch as much as possible.

This means she bakes her own bread, makes her own seasonings and usually at least 90% of the couple's meals go from the farm to the table.

On top of all of this, Mikayla enjoys many other hobbies such as quilting, painting, embroidery, refinishing furniture and playing the piano.

Mikayla said: "Currently, we don’t have children, although that is my biggest dream.

"I would love to have a large family someday if God allows.

"Others always feel the need to share their opinion on your lifestyle, and this has brought on several comments from others.

"Most commonly I get asked if I’m bored being a stay at home wife without children, or if I’m just being lazy by staying at home, and if I even feel 'fulfilled' without having a career.

"My answer is, I’m most definitely not bored. I have no time to be lazy.

"What is more fulfilling than growing all of your family's food, and making your home feel welcoming for all who enter?

"It brings me joy to do these things, and is the most accomplished I’ve ever felt."

She said, for those considering being a stay-at-home wife, you don't actually have to make an "insane" amount of money to live off one income.

Mikayla admitted the lifestyle doesn't come without its sacrifices, but she says it's all worth it.

"Find joy in serving your family," she said.

"Find joy in the mundane tasks.

"Find your community of women that have the same mindset, and have a hospitable heart towards them.

    "Invite them into your home.

"What better way to spend your time than by making your house a home, and to feel welcoming to all those who enter?"
