‘I took my toddler to Glastonbury – you can still live dream life as a parent’

A mum has split opinion online for taking her small child to Glastonbury Festival – and has hit back at naysayers who say she can’t live the dream life because she is a parent.

The self-proclaimed ‘CEO of cheap travel', who goes by the name The Travel Mum on social media, has shared that she took her tot to the iconic festival along with her husband.

When most people think of camping music events, booze and other debauchery usually comes to mind.

But the travel enthusiast mum has shown that not all festivals are like this and are actually child and family friendly.

The Travel Mum has declared that just because she has a child it does not mean that she still can’t live her “dream” life.

In a TikTok clip that has racked up 858,000 views, the mum shared a comment from someone who fretted at the idea of taking a child to Glastonbury.

She wrote: “Omg who on earth would take their child to Glastonbury festival?!”

“Great parents, that’s who”, the mum bit back.

The mum then shared a series of clips of her son having the time of his life at the festival, as he waved his hands in the air at the thought of camping – and even had a fun time on the helter skelter.

“Kids love to camp, love exploring – there is so much for all ages”, she said.

Her small son had a big grin plastered across his face as she got his face painted and went on the fairground rides.

He even enjoyed the live music as he wore ear defenders for protection.

The mum declared: “Becoming a parent doesn’t mean you have to stop living the dream, you just get to do it with a mini you making the best memories.”

Sweetly, the family of three smiled for some selfies at the five day festival that saw the likes of Billie Eilish and Paul McCartney perform.

“People don’t realise that it’s such a family friendly festival – it’s got everything for everyone,

“You don’t need a ticket for under 12s – just turn up with them”, the mum explained.

However, not everyone was so convinced that it was suitable for a family, let alone a child.

One person commented: “Til they go to sleep at seven and you have to stay with them then miss out on the evening.”

Another user added: “Yeah brilliant… when you only have one. Try this when the next one comes along.”

While a third person voiced: “Each to their own but a definite no.”

Someone else shared: “Really happy for you but it's a hard no from me! My two would be an absolute nightmare there!”

But, many people fled to the comments to agree with the festival going mum and praised her for making memories with her family.

One user cheered: “This is so much better than for the kids rather than chucking your kid on the sofa with an iPad.”

A second person wrote: “Omg he is BUZZING. Those memories will last a lifetime.”

This user praised: “Glastonbury is a magical place for kids. Create memories of a lifetime.”

And, this user shared: “My parents took me and my siblings to Glastonbury throughout our childhoods. I can’t thank them enough for the memories.”

This was not the first time the mum took her child to the festival, as the family went on their first trip there when he was only a 12 weeks old.
