‘I wore false nails and a £300 wig to give birth – I had to look good in labour’

A mum is so glamorous that she never fails to look good – she even wore false nails and a £300 wig when she was in labour.

Raven Dixon-Biggs, 29, admits she also wore false lashes when she gave birth to two-year-old, Remington, and she wears "£75 River Island dresses to take him to playgroup".

The confession comes after she called out Keke Palmer’s partner for his "outdated tweets".

The mum believes no man has the right to tell his partner what to wear.

Darius Jackson, dad to Keke’s five-month old son Leodis, responded to a viral video featuring her being serenaded by Usher at his Las Vegas concert on July 5.

Commenting on her outfit, he wrote on Twitter: "It’s the outfit though… you a mom.

"We live in a generation where a man of the family doesn’t want the wife and mother of his kids to showcase booty cheeks to please others, and he gets told how much of a hater he is."

Raven, from Sandwell, Birmingham, who has just won Miss Sandwell 2023, has hit out against such remarks being made about women.

She said: "No man has the right to tell a woman how she can and can’t dress.

"This is Keke Palmer – she looks stunning, and would look stunning whatever she wears.

"But she already has this massive platform with an abundance of pressure on her to look good, and be a role model to younger girls.

"Just because you’re a mum – just because you’re a celeb mum – doesn’t mean you’re no longer a human being.

"What we wear isn’t a man’s choice to make – it’s ours.

"We, as women, have fought so hard to have rights. And we’re still fighting now!

"She’s a celeb and she has to go to lots of events.

"The thought of going to an event without any glam on, looking like a tramp, would make me really depressed!"

When her son, two-year-old Remington, was born Raven admitted she wore false lashes, stick-on nails and a £300 wig to ensure she looked as glam as possible.

Now she uses the time Remington spends at playgroup to look after herself, and make herself feel beautiful.

Sometimes she'll even treat herself to the odd glass of Prosecco.

She added: "For me personally, as a mum, looking good and feeling good is everything.

"Some mums can’t be a**ed to get their roots done or go to the gym.

"I make that time for myself – I get 15 hours of government childcare for my son – I make sure to use that time.

"With my 15 hours, I’m going to the gym, laying my wig, straightening or curling my hair, I make sure I’ve got my outfits matching – pink bag, pink jacket and pink skirt, for example.

"I make myself feel good so that when I’m back with my child we’re both feeling good!"

As of July 7, Keke hadn't responded publicly to Jackson's tweets.
