‘I’ve made £18,000 a year from side hustle – people can do it from home too’

A woman revealed how she makes an extra £18,000 a year from a side hustle at home.

Terri Mangan, 37, from London, decided to rent her clothes out to strangers a couple of years a go for a bit of extra cash.

The mum-of-one works in event management and felt she never had the money to give her son the life she wants for him.

Striving for a better life, Terri decided to take her hobby of renting party clothes a little more seriously.

And now she's able to pay for his private schooling and flashy holidays.

Terri noticed which brands were popular so she started to buy the same item in different sizes and listed them all for others to rent.

She now rents her clothing weekly through the Swished app – and shared just how she does it.

"I have items being rented each week through Swished, and order quantities more than quadrupled over Christmas," Terri told the Mirror.

"I always wanted him to have a better education than I did and I’m really proud I’m able to provide that for him.

"I still have to pinch myself sometimes when I stop to take in what I’ve been able to give him."

Terri rents some garments from anywhere between £5 and a couple of hundred pounds.

She doesn't just rent them for the day but allows people to have them for four to 18 days.

The business woman focuses on brands she finds popular like Needle & Thread and Nadine Merabi and only lists items she would wear herself.

"It’s also nice knowing that people are able to wear an item they may not ordinarily be able to afford, but renting it for a period of time, as opposed to buying it, makes it doable for them," Terri said.

Others can easily rent their clothes for cash on the Swished app just like Terri does.

And all you have to do is download the app, upload the item, answer some questions and choose rental price.
