“Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Jackie Goldschneider, who has battled an eating disorder for most of her life, is calling out the latest celebrity weight loss fad drug, Ozempic.
“An eating disorder in a needle,” the reality star, 46, commented under a People magazine Instagram post Wednesday about how the medication – intended for those with type 2 diabetes or clinical obesity – can cause undesirable side-effects such as an aging face.
Goldschneider has talked on “RHONJ” about how she is currently in recovery for anorexia.
The Bravolebrity exclusively told Page Six this past summer that while her journey was “going well,” it’s “not as easy” as she thought it would be.
She added, “I thought I would just start eating more and everything would come together but there’s been a lot of hurdles for me, so I’m definitely, like, well on my way, a thousand times better than I was last year, but I do have issues.”
In December 2022, Goldschneider blasted another brand that could potentially trigger ED survivors such as herself: Bethenny Frankel’s Skinnygirl.
“I’ve got a very strong opinion on this one because I say, ‘F–k marketing skinny,’” the reality star previously said during a live taping of Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea” podcast.
“I’m sick of f–king marketing skinny. I don’t want to drink something because it’s going to keep me skinny, so f–k you, Bethenny. F–k your skinny brand. That’s how I really feel.”
In recent months in Hollywood, there appears to be a growing “trend” of women looking very frail again – a look that is reminiscent of the ’90s “heroin chic” era.
Several stars who have recently lost a significant amount of weight, such as Kim Kardashian and Mindy Kaling, have been accused on social media of using Ozempic to shed their pounds.
While those two women have not addressed the accusation, some have openly discussed whether they have or have not used the drug.
Khloé Kardashian, for her part, seemingly denied taking the medication, recently clapping back to a social media user and stating, “Let’s not discredit my years of working out. I get up 5 days a week at 6am to train.”
“Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Kyle Richards flat out said, “I have never tried ozempic and this is not from plastic surgery” in response to questions about her fit bikini bod.
Meanwhile, comedian Chelsea Handler said she has taken Ozempic, but claimed she “didn’t know it” at the time.
“I came back from a vacation and I injected myself with it. I went to lunch with a girlfriend a few days later, and she was like, ‘I’m not really eating anything. I’m so nauseous, I’m on Ozempic,’” the former “Chelsea Lately” host recalled on “Call Her Daddy” this week.
“I was like, ‘I’m kind of nauseous too.’ But I had just come back from Spain and was jet-lagged. I had been there for a month. White privilege.”
