Lady Gaga: ‘I want to live a life of solitude’

Lady Gaga’s performance at the 2023 Oscars was stripped down in more ways than one.

To sing her nominated “Top Gun: Maverick” song “Hold My Hand” during Sunday night’s ceremony, the pop superstar dressed simply in a black T-shirt, ripped jeans and Converse — and appeared to be wearing no makeup at all.

Her performance look was a stark contrast from the full face of glam and ripped-from-the-runway Versace gown Gaga, 36, wore on the red carpet earlier in the evening.

Ditching the glossy red lipstick and dramatic dark eye makeup she donned for the Oscars step-and-repeat, the “Bloody Mary” singer swapped her dress for denim and hit the stage with a fresh face and a French braid.

“It’s deeply personal for me,” Gaga told the crowd of the “Top Gun” tune before launching into her performance.

“You might find that you can be your own hero, even if you feel broken inside.”

Gaga’s army of fans (known as the “Little Monsters”) praised her brave bare-faced performance.

One person tweeted they were “blown away” by the performance and thought she looked “very comfortable!”

“She’s absolutely beautiful and she didn’t need to cover herself up with a fancy dress and makeup,” another wrote.

“I just really want to know what makeup remover Lady Gaga uses,” another curious fan tweeted, adding, “Mine is still on my pillow from last night.”

Before taking the stage, the “Shallow” songstress arrived dripping in Tiffany & Co. diamonds and wearing a black Versace gown with a sheer corseted top that dipped low in the back and bared her behind.

Gigi Hadid wore the same sexy style on the Versace catwalk during the design house’s fashion show in Los Angeles three days before the Oscars.

For the superstar who brought the world the meat dress and once arrived at the Grammys in an enormous egg, Gaga’s unusually casual performance look made a style statement all its own.
