Meghan mum Doria the spitting image of her in resurfaced red carpet snap

Doria Ragland’s royal introduction discussed by experts

Meghan Markle is set to storm the red carpet tonight after receiving the Women of Vision Award, however, the former actress-turned-royalty has always cared about women’s causes which may have been inspired by her mother, Doria Ragland.

Now pictures of Meghan and her mother Doria have recently resurfaced, showing the pair attending the United Nation’s historic anniversary of the World Conference on Women.

The two share a striking similarity in the eight-year-old pictures, posing in front of the red-carpet photographers.

The event took place in Beijing, China in 2015 to celebrate the 20-year anniversary of the fourth worldwide conference on women, an important event that helped secure global policies which would help achieve gender equality in many counties throughout the world.

Meghan can be seen in photographs wearing a sleek and simple black dress with strappy black heels, while Doria also posed in a black dress paired with a metallic pink jacket.

Meghan has clearly inherited some beauty tricks from her mother. Both the future-Duchess and Doria glow in rosy highlighter, nude lipstick, and simple grey eyeshadow to accentuate their eyes.

Doria is a public advocate for women’s issues and she was spotted wearing a feminist t-shirt shortly after Meghan’s wedding to Prince Harry in 2018.

Doria wore an official Women’s March t-shirt, supporting the massive movement popular protesting for reproductive rights, and worker’s rights, and against the president at the time, Donald Trump.

It is not known if Doria attended any of the Women’s Marches, but Meghan has historically always shown her support for women’s causes.

Meghan was UN Women’s Advocate for Women’s Political Participation and Leadership, and on International Women’s Day in 2015 she said: “I am proud to be a woman and a feminist.”

Before she become a royal, Meghan joked she might stay in Canada if Donald Trump was elected, and called the former president divisive.

In 2016, Meghan said: “It’s really the moment that I go, we film Suits in Toronto and I might just stay in Canada I mean come on, if that’s the reality we are talking about, come on, that is a game changer in terms of how we move in the world here.”

She added: “I think it was in 2012, the Republican Party lost the female vote by 12 points. That’s a huge number and with as misogynistic as Trump is and so vocal about it, that’s a huge chunk of it.”

Not much is known about Meghan’s relationship with her mother, but the Duchess posted a touching tribute to Doria on her former blog, The Tig, for Mother’s Day in 2014 which shows how much her mother has inspired her.

Meghan wrote: “Dreadlocks. Nose ring. Yoga instructor. Social worker. Free spirit. Lover of potato chips & lemon tarts. And if the DJ cues Al Green’s soul classic “Call Me,” just forget it.

“She will swivel her hips into the sweetest little dance you’ve ever seen, swaying her head and snapping her fingers to the be like she’s been dancing since the womb.

“And you will smile. You won’t be able to help it. You will look at her and you will feel joy. I’m talking about my mom,”
