The Queen shared a sweet moment with young royal fans as she accompanied the King on a visit to Covent Garden this morning.

Queen Camilla, 75, was greeted by adorable well-wishers waving Union Jack flags in central London.

In a video captured by the Daily Mail’s Royal Editor Rebecca English, the monarch was seen patting several children on the head as she made her way through the crowd.

The star-stuck fans could be seen opening their mouths in disbelief following the sweet interaction.

Today marks the couple’s first joint engagement since King Charles’ Coronation.

Queen Camilla shone in a teal blue coat dress with a chiffon scarf and pearl earrings for today’s engagement.

Young children grouped by the side of the road caught the attention of the grandmother-of-five, who stopped to share a special moment with them.

The children, who were wearing their navy blue school uniform, could be seen waving their Union Jack flag with enthusiasm as the royal couple walked past them.

As she walked past, Queen Camilla got close to the children and shared a few words with them.

She greeted several of them by giving them a maternal pat on the head before moving on to the next part of the visit.

Today’s outing marks the first joint royal engagement between the pair since the eyes of the world were upon them at Westminster Abbey on May 6 during the Coronation.

Although the grandiosity of the occasion may have shown on their faces at the time, with just a hint of nervousness visible on their faces, today the King and Queen looked relaxed as they were back to royal duties.

During their visit, King Charles and Queen Camilla met with business owners, including market traders, people in arts organisations in the area and other members of the community.

To begin their visit, Their Majesties went to St Paul’s Church, which is known as the Actors’ Church, to mark its 390th anniversary. While at the church, they met community theatre groups who use it as their meeting space.

In particular, Camilla met with the Church’s Drama for Healing Group, established in 2019, which primarily works with women who have been subject to domestic abuse. The Queen has long championed the cause of ending domestic violence and is a patron for the SafeLives charity.

Before leaving the church, Their Majesties signed the visitor’s book, which was previously signed by the late Queen Elizabeth in 1988.

Following the church trip, the King and Queen visited the Covent Garden Apple Market to meet local traders specialising in British arts and crafts, as well as restaurateurs.

They visited a stall set up by local chef and entrepreneur Amrit S Maan OBE, who runs the nearby Punjab Covent Garden restaurant.

Finally, the King and Queen visited the Royal Opera House – where Princess Charlotte celebrated her eighth birthday just a few weeks ago – to meet artists from The Royal Ballet, The Royal Opera, The Orchestra of Royal Opera House, and staff and students from The Royal Ballet School.

Among the artists ready to meet the King and Queen were Amanda Baldwin and Luke Price who performed at the Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle

In 1975 when he was Prince of Wales, King Charles became patron of The Royal Opera. In 2003 he became president of The Royal Ballet, and was made a patron of the Royal Opera House in 2009.
