Mum says her baby's 'sticking up' hair gets them stopped in the street

Have you ever seen hair like it?

A mother has been documenting her baby’s ‘crazy’ mane after she was born with her hair sticking completely up.

So unusual is her hair, that strangers stop the mum and daughter in the street.

Aliyah Lewis’ 10-week-old baby, Arla, was born with a unique hair style – with her hair growing outwards in every direction.

Aliyah, 20, said Arla’s hair started growing out after her first bath – and it hasn’t stopped.

Posting videos of Arla on TikTok, Aliyah said some people question if her baby has uncombable hair syndrome or a cow’s protein allergy.

Uncombable hair syndrome is a condition that looks similar to this.

The stay-at-home mum from Wales said: ‘It just doesn’t stay down at all.

‘I’ve tried brushing it and nothing happens.

‘When it’s wet it goes down and then two minutes after the bath it goes straight back up.

‘She could be wearing a hat for 30 minutes, you take it off and within a couple of minutes it’s back up again.

‘I don’t think it’s uncontrollable hair syndrome as that usually tends to be white, almost silvery hair, and Arla’s isn’t like that.’

She’s thought long and hard about what might be causing it.

‘Some people on TikTok have said it can be a cows milk allergy, but she doesn’t have any other symptoms of that allergy,’ she adds.

Arla’s ‘soft and fluffy’ hair is loved by her family and strangers in the street.

‘Random people have stopped me when I’m out and about, commenting on her hair.

‘Everyone in the family think’s it’s crazy.’

Aliyah, and her partner Adam, 22, hope that Arla’s hair stays the way it is for years to come.

She said: ‘To be honest, I quite like it. It’s almost like her own little personality.

‘So I hope it stays that way.’
