Mum shares ‘genius’ hack to keep paddling pool clean

It's looking like the UK is in for a hot summer this year with reports that the country isset for another four heatwavesover the next few months.

It's believed that the second half of July could include another heatwave with two more making their way over in August and September. Experts predict that temperatures could be between 30C and 36C this summer.

While the hot weather is certainly welcomed it also signals the return of the paddling pool and as fun it is for kids, cleaning the inflatable water system can be a right pain for parents.

One mum, who managed to finesse keeping the pool clean, took to social media platform TikTok to share her foolproof tip with other parents.

A user, who goes by the name Rachael Allenby, shared a video to her page of how she keeps the bugs out of her pool using an everyday bedroom staple.

Rachael, who credits her sister in law for her hack, placed a fitted bed sheet around her paddling pool to keep out any creepy crawlies when its not in use.

She wrote: “My sister in law's hack, her granddaughter had literally spent 20 minutes in it, why would she change the water and waste it?

"This keep's bugs and other stuff out. it was a kingsize bed sheet used on a 6ft x 4ft paddling pool.”

She added that “you definitely need 2 people” to ensure the method is done correctly and avoid soggy sheets.

As the video racked up the likes and comments, people shared their surprise at such a useful tip.

One said: "That is genius – last year it took me about an hour to cover mine in clingfilm.”

While another added: “Thats a great idea. I used a butterfly catcher from the dollar store to get the bugs out.”

A third commented: “I’m so glad I saw this bc I was literally about to go buy a liner.”

The hack comes as The Weather Company's Leon Brown recently revealed that theUK may go through more heatwaves as early as July. He also said that temperatures could surpass Britain's recent 32.7C heatwave.

Leon told theMail on Sunday: "More heatwaves imported from the Continent to the UK are forecast this summer, each reaching at least 28C – and likely higher – and each lasting several days."

Leon added: "We should see well into the 30s – 36C would not be at all surprising."

If the mercury reaches high thirties, Britain will be facing temperatures as high as Spain, which is also predicted to have temperatures reach up to 43C.

Southern France is also experiencing mega heatwaves as Paris had its hottest day in June reaching 42C.
