A mum decided to spell out an X-rated word with potato letters – but told her small child it spelt 'I love you'.

Pulling pranks on both young and old is a sure way to get a few giggles.

However, people have been split over this parent's practical joke on her unassuming three-year-old daughter.

Mum Emily took to TikTok where she shared the joke that has now racked up a huge 5.6 million views.

In the viral clip, the mum dished up a dinner for her tiny tot.

The meal consisted of peas, carrots, chopped up breaded chicken and some potato alphabet letters.

"That says, I love you", Emily told her daughter as she placed the grub in front of her.

The little girl replied: "Does it?"

And, the three-year-old was right to question as the potato pieces did not actually spell out the endearing phrase.

Cheekily, Emily spelt the X-rated slur 'pr***' instead.

As she did not know how to read, the child did not know any better. She even waved her plastic cutlery over the naughty potato formed word and repeated "I love you" while she smiled at her mum.

Despite thinking it would be a harmless bit of fun, Emily received some backlash from users.

One person slammed: "Now it’s been put online for all to see."

Another user added: "I'm finding it hard to find anything funny about it."

While a third claimed: "I can see it now. She is going to write pr*** on a piece of paper and tell her teacher it means I love you."

Someone else fretted: "Don't do that what if she say that to someone."

Meanwhile, a fifth user bashed: "All good until she makes something in school for you and puts that at the bottom."

Although, others defended the mum as they could see the funny side of the clip.

One user supported: "I love it! Ignore the Karen’s, I bet she finds this vid hilarious when a teen."

A second said: "God I bet there’s 100 of Karen comments."

This person admitted: "I've been laughing for 10 minutes."

As a fourth wrote: "These Karens and Kens are getting on my last nerve, understand some British humour."

And, another related: "I love this it’s something I’d do with my future kids for sure."
