The inspiration for her beautiful long-sleeved gown, with a cathedral-length veil, she said, came from Hollywood icon Grace Kelly’s dress – saying: ‘Like every little girl, I had a vision in my head—it was Grace Kelly’s dress I loved.’

She also joked that her new husband, 25, who she first met in 2018, had proved to be ‘a bit of a bridezilla’, saying he was ‘obsessed with all the details’.

And the wedding breakfast saw the couple – who were both dressed by Ralph Lauren – making their way into the State Dining Room, which was decorated with ivy, white roses and hydrangeas.

The event was closed to the press despite being held on government property.

It was the first wedding held at the White House in nearly two decades and the 19th known one to take place there – and Naomi told the magazine that it had been a little awkward asking guests for their social security numbers on the invitations. All guests also had to be covid tested and go through a screening process to be admitted.

After the ceremony, Naomi and Peter posed for photos on the South Portico of the White House, the bride’s long veil blowing in the breeze.

The bridal party was dressed appropriately for the chilly weather.  The three bridesmaids – Naomi’s sisters Finnegan and Maisy and Peter’s sister Betsy – who wore navy blue dresses. Finnegan and Maisy had blazers on over their formal dresses.

There were two young flower girls in white gowns, bundled up in blankets after walking down the aisle. Peter’s brother Robert was best man.  Naomi was escorted down the aisle by her father Hunter to the music of Bittersweet Symphony.

‘It has been a joy to watch Naomi grow, discover who she is, and carve out such an incredible life for herself,’ Joe and Jill Biden said in a statement.

‘Now, we are filled with pride to see her choose Peter as her husband and we’re honored to welcome him to our family. We wish them days full of laughter and a love that grows deeper with every passing year.’
