Neighbours legends confirm when show will return and we're excited

Paul and Jane enjoy a glass of wine in Neighbours

Neighbours fans have eagerly been awaiting news of the show’s upcoming return, and Stefan Dennis has now given an update on when we can expect new episodes.

The actor, who plays Paul Robinson, revealed that the show, which was revived by Amazon Freevee last year shortly after its star-studded ‘finale’, should be back on our screens in the second half of this year.

‘It should be back on screens in Autumn,’ he told Metro.co.uk and other journalists, during a recent press junket. ‘Autumn over here [in the UK].’

Consider us excited!

Production will resume in the coming months, with Jane Harris star Annie Jones telling us that cast members haven’t been given any scripts just yet, before adding that she’s excited to find out what’s next.

‘Our executive producer did share the cover of the first script with us, which was a big tease!,’ she said, ‘We’re excited and can’t wait to read and see what’s in store. That’s all we know so far.’

Neighbours was controversially axed by Channel 5 last year, with the broadcaster citing a desire to make ‘original UK drama’ as its reasons. The news was met with outrage and upset from fans, who wasted little time in campaigning to save their beloved show, with their efforts ultimately paying off.

Just months after what was thought to be its final episode, Amazon Freevee came to its rescue, resuscitating the beloved serial drama for a new chapter, with the streaming service proving to be the good friends that fans and cast members had craved.

‘For me, it was a no brainer,’ said Annie, discussing if she had to think about returning after the serial was rescued, ‘I just love being Jane and working on the show. I love having the opportunity to grow as an actor, with every new storyline and episode. I’m thrilled. I couldn’t be happier to be back.’

Stefan, meanwhile, added that he did have to think about it for ‘hours’ after receiving word of the show’s comeback.
