One royal couple avoids ‘PDA’ for important reason – claims
The Royal Family is filled with long-standing couples and there is certainly a lot of love going around. But which royal duo is the most openly lovey-dovey, and which is more reluctant to display affection publicly? Body language expert Judi James gave her verdict to Express.co.uk.
According to the expert, the prominent royal couples, King Charles and Queen Camilla, Prince William and Kate, Princess of Wales, Harry and Meghan and Mike and Zara, all display their love for each other in totally different ways.
Judi stated: “When you look at all the royal couples and their body language signals of love and affection it’s clear that each couple defines a different state of love or a different way of expressing it.”
The expert claimed that the royal duo of King Charles and Queen Camilla appears to avoid PDA almost entirely – but for a very important reason.
She claimed: “Charles and Camilla tend to perform the least amount of PDAs like touch, hugging or eye contact.
“They are also low on mirroring and are also low on synchronicity and relaxed choreography.”
But she suggested that this is less about the love between the couple and more about the circumstances they previously found themselves in.
Judi claimed: “There are solid reasons for these traits or lack of them, though.
“Their relationship was either hidden or subdued in public for years, making their discretion built into their muscle memory and therefore a strong, embedded habit.

“Their lack of PDAs helped them avoid ongoing disapproval from the public and their family members, but their ‘moments’ of visual affection do seem to be strong and high in impact because of that.”
Zara Tindall and Mike Tindall are overtly smitten on the other hand, still looking “giddy in love after several years of marriage and three small children”.
Judi claimed: “Their body language ranges from romantic to playful and is always the one with the strongest sexual signals, displayed by kissing, hugging and adoring eye contact and touching.”
Another overtly enamoured couple is Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, according to the expert, who described them as the “most openly loving royal couple”.
She claimed that they use “constant touch, tie-signs, strokes and the ‘look of love’ facial expression”, as well as a “a strong tendency to use romantic gestures and rituals“.
Some of Meghan and Harry’s notable touch moments include their kiss at the Invictus Games Opening Ceremony in April 2022, and more recently their hand holding at Westminster Hall during the coffin carrying of the late Queen Elizabeth II in September.
Judi also claimed they take “complete comfort in reminding the public about their love verbally”.
According to the expert, William and Kate also display a “look of love” expression and even mirror each others’ gestures.
However, they may be less inclined to show overt displays of affection due to their position in the Royal Family.
She said: “William and Kate have always had a very powerful trait of subliminal mirroring, which defines like-minded thinking, mutual respect and emotional closeness and understanding.
“As high-rank royals they also tend to use a sparing amount of PDAs but the ‘look of love’ on their facial expressions and some of the playfulness and tender touches we see from them suggest the strongest of bonds.”
According to the expert, Prince William and Kate Middleton also display a “look of love” expression and even mirror each others’ gestures.
However, they may be less inclined to show overt displays of affection due to their position in the Royal Family.
She said: “William and Kate have always had a very powerful trait of subliminal mirroring, which defines like-minded thinking, mutual respect and emotional closeness and understanding.
