Our caravan holiday with friends is doomed after our daughters fell out | The Sun

DEAR DEIDRE: OUR family holiday is doomed before it’s begun.

I’m dreading fireworks because our daughter’s best friend and her parents are joining us – but unfortunately the girls have had a massive falling out.

They are both 15 and have a boy. My daughter was seeing him and he dumped her. She was heartbroken.

She then heard through other pals that her best friend was texting and flirting with him and she felt betrayed.

My daughter accused her friend of being a tart.

This other girl swore blind to her mother, who is my friend, that this wasn’t true and said she’d been trying to get the boy to make contact with my daughter again.

We got the girls together and my daughter apologised, but the damage was done.

Her friend is still not speaking.

My daughter wants to start again but is blanked.

I’m her mum and I’m 45.

Our holiday at a caravan park for our two families is in a few weeks. Help!

DEIDRE SAYS:  Resist micromanaging the girls’ friendship and let them settle their own arguments.

Your daughter has tried. Perhaps her friend will come round.

They may reconcile while in a different setting. But if either refuse to go, you may have to accept their friendship is evolving and make other plans.

Assuming you have separate accommodation, and things are tricky, pick different outings.

Things may settle by the time you come home.
