Many have been wondering the same thing.
One person questioned on social media: "Why do some people drink whiskey with Coke?
"Doesn't Coke overpower most of the flavour and aromas of the whiskey?"
Another shared: "I drank a Coke and why did it lowkey tasted like Jack Daniel’s lol."
Well, it turns out there is a reason why Jack and Coke is popular among alcohol drinkers.
And, the pairing is even on the rise.
Apparently, Jack Daniel's mix with Coca-Cola is a lot to do with their similar flavour profiles.
So, there's more to do with it than just grabbing any ol' fizzy pop off the shelf.
We got in touch for an exclusive chat with a drink expert to get to the bottom of the whiskey and Coke mystery.
"The reason that Jack Daniel’s and Coca-Cola work so cohesively together is down to the unique and perfect marriage of flavours when they are blended – it’s unmatchable," explained Andrei Marcu, Bar Manager and Creative Director Coupette, London.
"The charcoal filtering process for Jack Daniel’s brings a cleanliness and mellowness to the whiskey profile, accentuates the caramel sweet notes, and the woodiness from the oak barrel.
"This allows for Jack to mellow with the sweet and brown spice notes of Coca-Cola making for the perfect blend.
"Jack and Coke have similar profiles and together, enhance the notes that consumers love."
But, the flavour profiles are not the only aspect to Jack and Coke being so desired together.
The drink extraordinaire admitted the pairing creates a sense of nostalgia – a similar feeling to consuming a much-loved home cooked meal from your gran.
And Andrei revealed he has seen orders for Jack Daniel’s and Coca-Cola rise in the last year at bar, Coupette.

“It is all about simplicity and familiarity," he shared.
"Ordering a Whiskey and Coke stirs up a nostalgia that you might expect from 'Grandma’s chicken soup'.
"The time and maturation aspects of dark spirits also have strong appeal.
"The ability to transform the humble ingredients of water, barley, and yeast into a rich and complex, yet uncomplicated, liquid is an art – a craft mastered over decades.
"And there's respect for that.
"Certainly at Coupette, I’ve definitely seen a rise in Jack Daniel’s and Coca-Cola orders recently – around 10% in the past year.
"With two unique recipes that are as incredible together as they are apart, there aren’t many drinks that have such cult and classic flavour profiles.
"So I can understand why we’re seeing the upswing.”
