Peta Murgatroyd reveals IVF transfer didn’t work
Peta Murgatroyd says she had “one of the saddest moments” of her life when she recently found out her in vitro fertilization transfer did not result in a successful pregnancy.
The “Dancing With the Stars” alum, 36, revealed in an emotional video posted via Instagram Tuesday that 10 days after she underwent an embryo transfer, doctors called her to give her the bad news that there was no baby.
“A little part of me died that day on the side of the road,” Murgatroyd wrote over the clip.
“I had to wrap my head around the fact that I had spent months preparing for this and I came out with nothing. I left empty-handed.”
The pro dancer, who is married to fellow “DWTS” alum Maksim Chmerkovskiy, further opened up about the heartbreaking situation in the caption of the video.
“When you think you got it figured out, it slaps you in the face and makes you start over,” she wrote. “I keep learning that ‘Gods plans will always be more beautiful than all your disappointments’… I have to keep believing that.”
Murgatroyd added that when doctors first showed her their baby during the first day of the transfer, it “felt final” and she began to imagine what life would be like with another child.
“I really did think that this was going to work,” the blond beauty, who shares 5-year-old son Shai with Chmerkovskiy, said.
“Looking into Maks’ eyes as he was crying, seeing our baby together…just made this experience so worth it even though it didn’t turn out how we had hoped.”
Mugatroyd went surfing with her son to help her start healing.
