Pete Davidson is returning to “Saturday Night Live” with a major bang, Page Six has exclusively learned.
Davidson will host “SNL” for the very first time on May 6, nearly a year after he exited the sketch comedy series.
“He’s very excited to go back.[Leaving the show] has been a change of pace for him, but in a good way,” a source close to Davidson told us.
Meanwhile, the unlikely Hollywood lothario is expected to attend the Met Gala days before he makes his “SNL” hosting debut, we hear. He will be on the show to promote his upcoming Peacock comedy series “Bupkis,” which happens to be executive produced by his former “SNL” boss Lorne Michaels.
“Lorne has always been a huge supporter of Pete and his creative vision and Pete thinks the world of Lorne,” the source said.
Davidson wrote, produced and stars in the series, which is a fictionalized version of his life growing up on Staten Island. He even managed to pull Joe Pesci out of retirement to play his grandfather and Edie Falco is playing his mother. We’re told the show will feature a slew of guest stars including: Charlie Day, Al Gore, Bobby Cannavale, John Mulaney, La La Anthony and Davidson’s bestie Machine Gun Kelly.
“Pete’s so happy. He’s taken time away from the spotlight to focus on himself, and on his show. He’s really good,” the source said.
The comedian has also taken some time to focus on romance. He was spotted hanging out with Martha Stewart last weekend with his girlfriend Chase Sui Wonders, where we’re told he was “visiting a friend and looking at houses” in Stewart’s Bedford, NY, town.
Stewart even sent him on his way with a little good luck charm.
“She gave him fresh eggs!,” our source said.
A rep for Davidson and “SNL” did not comment.
