Prince Archie’s incredible surprise birthday gift that’s bringing him ‘much joy’
Prince Archie was given a special surprise birthday gift which brought the four year old "much joy," it has been revealed.
The eldest child of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle turned four on May 6 – the same day as his grandfather, King Charles' Coronation.
In celebration of his big day, Archie was gifted a brand new bike with stabilisers from a local bike store. It was hand-delivered to Harry and Meghan's Montecito mansion from the Mad Dogs & Englishmen Bike Shop.
A thoughtful thank you letter was later sent on behalf of the royal couple, who are also parents to two year old Princess Lilibet.
The bike shop shared the letter on their Instagram with the caption: "We hope they don’t mind us sharing this lovely thank you letter we received today!"
On paper headed with the words "The Office of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex" and dated June 6, a member of staff for Harry and Meghan addressed the shop owners Martin and Jennifer.
The letter read: "On behalf of Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, please accept their sincere thanks for the thoughtful gift you sent to Prince Archie for his fourth birthday.
"The bike has brought much joy and is most appreciated by the family. They asked that I convey their gratitude at the lovely surprise."
On May 6 the bike shop shared a photo of the gift for Archie in an Instagram post, it showed what looked to be a pink and blue bike with stabilisers. It also showed three balloons attached to it along with the caption: "We hope yesterday’s special birthday boy had a wonderful day surrounded by lots of love, friends and family.
"Martin gifted him a new kids bike out of our Montecito shop! We really hope he enjoys it. His little sis can ride as well when she gets a bit bigger."
Bike shop co-owner Jennifer Blevins told PEOPLE that the gift was delivered to Harry and Meghan's home by her British partner and shop co-owner, Martin. She said: "He went and he got one of our little specialised kids' bikes — they're really nice little bikes — and he's like, 'This one's perfect, it's got training wheels'.
"And so he went and got some birthday balloons, and he got some flowers for Meghan and a birthday card, and he said, 'Okay, I'm gonna bike over and take it to their house.'"
Luckily security allowed Martin to leave the flowers, card, balloons and bike for Archie and the owners received the heartfelt thank you letter which they "weren't expecting". Jennifer told the publication: "It was so thoughtful because, you know, they took the time to write something personal and not just a generic thank you."
