A pub landlady who vowed to give ‘unattended children’ Red Bull and will teach them to swear has joked they are a ‘dog-friendly and child-tolerant’ bar.

Jo Hunt, who runs The Heys Inn, in Oswaldtwistle with her husband, Jordan, left many in stitches after her tongue-in-cheek sign viral over the weekend.

She wrote on a black board sign inside the boozer: ‘Unattended children will be given Red Bull and taught to swear.’

Speaking to Lancs Live, she explained: ‘It’s obviously just a joke. We have four children ourselves, ranging in age from 10 right down to 16 weeks, and we always joke that we are dog-friendly and child-tolerant.

The funny message went down well with the locals and most people seemed to take it light heartedly however she said if anyone had a problem with it they should ‘b******’ off.

She added: ‘All the locals had a giggle about it. If anyone takes it seriously, then b***** them!’

While the family live in the pub, the kids don’t often spend much time in the bar but they did have ‘them singing karaoke on Christmas Eve’ however Jo admitted that was ‘rare’.

Jo and her husband, who have run the pub in Stone Bridge Lane for just over nine years, welcomed their fourth child just 16 weeks ago.

Elsewhere, the landlady, explained that it’s rare to find her kids at The Heys Inn – although they enjoyed singing some karaoke on Christmas Eve.

Jo also told LancsLive that The Heys Inn is ‘doing well’ despite the soaring bill and cost of living crisis, and it’s all a matter of needing ‘to balance’ new demands.

She praised the pub’s ‘really good’ group of regulars and revealed that she and her husband recently signed a new contract which sees them carrying on with a pub for another five years.
