Pumpkin Spice Latte-inspired manicure ideas to get you ready for the cosy season

A true sign of summer ending and autumn beginning is when Starbucks puts its Pumpkin Spice Latte back on the seasonal menu – and Instagram informs us it's now back on menu boards nationwide. The delicious drink is like a warm and spicy hug in a mug, so why not clasp your hands around it with some cosy-looking nails to match the coffee?

Seasonal manicures are taking off this year with colours and prints to match each season trending on Instagram. This month it’s the turn of pumpkin spice nails. Think autumnal brown shades, burnt oranges and warm neutrals – essentially, latte tones.

If you fancy giving coffee-inspired mani a try when you’re next due a salon appointment, we’ve scoured Instagram for the best references for you to show your manicurist. If you’re a dab hand at applying nail varnish, you could even give one of these looks a go for yourself at home.

Best pumpkin spice nail looks for autumn

The drink-inspired dots

This is one look beginners might be able to create for themselves at home. Use a caramel brown base shade then create the black and white dots around the borders of the nails using a dotting tool. For advanced nail artists, mix and match the dot size around each nail.

The autumn French

The classic French manicure has seen plenty of twists this year. In summer we were all getting pastel tips, and now it’s the turn of pumpkin spice-toned ends. Pick a base shade similar to Essie Bubble Bath or CND Cashmere Wrap, then choose five different mocha and burnt orange tones for your tips. Finish with a top coat for a glossy finish.

The leaf effect

This design looks great on both long and short nails, as shown in the picture. The wearer has chosen a burnt orange and an autumnal yellow – leafy shades – to wear on the ends of her nails in a cross-over pattern. The base of her nails has been left a subtle neutral to really accentuate the warm tones of the tips.

The pumpkin patch

For big Halloween and autumn lovers, what could feel more fall than these pumpkin-coloured nails? We love the variation in pattern and design on each nail, with intricate swirls and glitzy golds offsetting the orange tones perfectly. This is definitely an advanced design that you might need some help from a pro to achieve.

The two-toned hearts

How cute are these mocha-coloured tips? The ends of the nails have been painted to resemble half-heart shapes, and the colours the wearer has chosen are complementary shades of brown and caramel. Again, the base of the nails has been painted a barely-there neutral to make sure the mocha shades show perfectly.
