The 96-year-old Monarch looked happy and relaxed in the front passenger seat of the Range Rover as she drove out from Wood Farm, where she is recuperating after a busy week in Scotland.

The Queen is enjoying somet time at the five-bedroom farmhouse, where Prince Philip lived after his retirement, following a busy trip to Edinburgh where she made three public appearances.

She is believed to have travelled to Norfolk at the weekend to spend some time in private.

Last week the Queen took part in celebrations for Holyrood Week, which is also known as Royal Week.

On the first day she attended the Ceremony of the Keys with the Earl and Countess of Wessex, where she was symbolically handed the keys to Edinburgh city.

On Tuesday she watched a military parade in the gardens of Holyrood House Palace and on Thursday she attended the Reddendo Parade with Prince Charles.

During her time in Edinburgh she also met with First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.

Last week the Queen was also pictured back in the saddle in Windsor, just ninth months after she was advised to stop riding.

Unspecified ‘mobility problems’ kept her from attending some Platinum Jubilee events this month, and she was often seen using a stick during engagements.

She was even using a golf buggy to ‘walk’ her corgis. But after meeting Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby at Windsor Castle on last Tuesday without the aid of a stick, she appeared to have made further progress.

Locals walking around the estate on Monday morning were thrilled to spot the Queen’s Range Rover

She has been a committed horsewoman ever since she was given a pony at three in 1929, and has been a devoted racehorse owner and breeder all her adult life.

The Sandringham estate is owned privately by the Queen and was inherited from her father.

The Queen stays there every winter until February 6, the anniversary of her father’s death and the House is also used by other members of the Royal family.
